Having also started the day in this state + extreme exhaustion due to very few hours sleep, I recommend keeping your head down & drinking lots of coffee. Mini tasks e.g. photocopying are ideal.

Ditto. Be as inconspicuous as you can be, it's your only hope.

Drinking gatorade is also good, it restores electrolytes so you won't feel as dehydrated and ill.

Go to Marks and Spencers and haf some of their DIET COLA. It's amazing!! I was feeling really rub until I guzzled some of that GOO and now I feel lots bettah. Head down, do not say anything, and if you need to get away go and hide in a random cubicle.

so far so good. guzzling coffee and just ate a gigantic bagel with cheese and bacon on it (ah, the frisson of the violating dietary taboos). and just now had an Important Telephone Conversation with no belches or tourettes, so I may be All Right.

chewing gum is good too. in 2.5 hrs I will have lunch. I will take the full hour and sit in a park. This will help, but I fear the late afternoon most of all as the urge to nap will be unforgiving.

Having spent the better part of my working days in your condition I can only sympathize. For me the morning is ok as I'm still drunk and in a good mood. After lunch however it's get thee back to the booze- smuggle in some vodka and Motrin and kill the pain because if you don't you'll come down hard. Let the rollercoaster ride begin.

I used to wake up drunk then ride my bike slowly down the main street of Auckland - a steep 2 km hill - with the brakes on and the front wheel wobbling all the way, to get to the ferry to my Dad's house. I crashed lightly into lots of people. I don't really have a moral or a suggestion! It could be worse, you could be sober.

Don't drink coffee or coke! That way madness lies - you'll dehydrate, feel like shit, and lose your mental capacities. drink lots of water, fruit juice, isotonic stuff if it's your bag, and eat something.
