Well? My plans involve repetetive music and dark rooms yadda yadda yadda. Oh and my parents are going away, so who knows what might happen.

So what's on the social menu?

Ronan, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh don't think it's a law that you have to put something witty here to get this into new answers....

Ronan, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am sitting on my arse right now killing time before I go and see 24 Hour Party People tonight!

DG, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Homework (big project I have to submit on Tues.), and then I am going to see Kids In the Hall on Sunday.

Nicole, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonight I am going to go out and get drunk on cocktails and tomorrow I am going to go to the house of my friends Paul, Lucas, Dave and Tom and make them cook for me, feed me wine, pass me spliffs, play me nice records etc because they are very good friends and for one reason and another not ONE of the fuckers will be around this evening.

And on Sunday I shall lie on my bed like a starfish and not move and i will be happy.

Anna, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmmm...I dunno, nothing in particular.

jel --, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonight I'm going out for a beer. Tomorrow I'm working on 102 Beats That, then going down to London, meeting Isabel and going round to Emma and Pete's for dinner. Sunday I'm going to be at Isabel's and go for a curry with her in the evening, do something exciting during the day too if we think of anything, or maybe see a film.

Tom, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have overcommitted myself in a desperate attempt to recreate the holiday spirit. Tonite = drinking in bar type venues TBC depending on where is rubbish & where is good (as well as where we can get in free / cheap); tomorrow = cooking dinner for about 3 million people in our flat; Sunday = poss. going to Brixton for yet more drinking / dancing / general mates stuff. I also have to go to the gym & do some shopping. There just aren't enough hours etc. etc.

Emma, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am going to try and find a branch of Primark and buy CHEAP GYM GEAR and possibly also GO TO THE GYM! I have no other plans apart from to TIDY UP gosh hold back yore excitement eh. Like I say every weekend, I might also try and go to BOOT SALES but seeing as I really need to save money this is probably not a good idea.

I turned down CHOCOLATE today. I expect to be THIN very soon.

Sarah, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my one social event int happening now. so 24HPP looks about as exciting as it gets this w/e. Catching up on CD purchses (Adult!). And I should be working on getting some kind of gift for my sis's 30th birthday next w/e. (Gosh I am talking about her a lot on here at the mo. I'll get over it soon.) Must get rid of those books too. Need storage for old comix, yeah.

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well, supposedly going to nesh/cylob/dmxkrew at the premises, but with the house situation plumetting still further, it looks like taking some stuff back to bradford, looking at new places, and then preparing myself for homelessness again

gareth, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually I might record a new album...I've been getting song titles from self-help books...stuff like "Cultivating an attitude of greater equanimity" and "the universal sound" and "the value of becoming involved"...I hope to achieve a greater level of Atonality.

I will probably end up going to the shops.

jel --, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually if I clean TONIGHT, this will put me in a good mood tomorrow MORNING so I could get up and then go to BOOT FAIR! in White City and THEN to Hammersmith PRIMARK and then Shepherds Bush GIM!

Anyone who knows me will understand that this = I will stay in bed, watch some telly, and about 4 o clock be MORE BORED THAN ANYONE HAS BEEN BORED IN THEIR LIVES EVAH.

Sarah, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

After a week of nothing but work, I am *very much* looking forward to this weekend. Tonight = yet another massive Noise Noise Noise sale followed by seeing the Church. Tomorrow = going down to San Diego, hitting the exquisite Lou's along the way for more shopping luv, and seeing Spiritualized, as they have allegedly lost yet more members and are now nothing but noise. Sunday = boss's daughters 1-year birthday party. Hurrah!

Ned Raggett, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonight is still an unknown quantity, tomorrow will involve at least one film, one gallery and Emma's food (I'll be incharge of drinks I guess) and Sunday I think I'm going bowling.

And read listeningt to Original Pirate (Arrgghh) Material.

Pete, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is Spiritualized meant to sound bettah now? Who left the band?

Nicole, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Leaving do when I finish work at 8pm tonight (how anti-social is that on a Friday evening). Hopefully get some golf in sometime over the weekend seeing as the sun is out and sweating on events at highbury tomorrow. I might go and watch the big screens at White Hart Lane. Otherwise I daresay I might just be drinking.

Jonnie, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah i haf mailed you about the possibility of GIM! i might go to the GIM! i also might: sort stuff out for charidee shoppes, buy one of those pants-drying racks that you hang on the radiator, buy some fabric conditioner, buy some organic vegs from BUSHWHACKER, go to charidee shoppes and replace all the stuff that i have given them with new old stuff. experiment with some new recipes. read a book. meet a school friend for lunch on Sunday. mmm weekend.

katie, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to Computer Blue at the Betsey Trotwood tonight (best thing about going to BT = having MILKSHAKES in Tinseltown afterwards).

Then tomorrow, I'm going bowling then going to Fanclub to see Riviera. Not sure what I'm doing on Sunday but on Monday, I'm going to PARIS for two nites. Hurrah!

jamesmichaelward, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There aren't any really good shows happening this weekend sooo. . .tonight I wager we'll eat mexican food and then possibly stop by our favorite bar for a few. tomorrow I have to come into work (boo!) and then I think we'll have people over to our house for records and intoxicating substances.(yay!) Sunday = lethargy.

Samantha, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Haf you Ktee? There was one mail I replied to but I guess we should sort out TIMES and stuff!

Sarah, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

From now on I want you to call me by my new name.

Smee, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have no plans whatsoever, this saddens me, however, I'll probably end up boozing with Number5 so life isn't too bad.

chris, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Friday night - spend with cousin and her daughter before they run off to the other side of the country for the rest of their lives.
Saturday night - 31st birthday party for old school acquaintence.
Sunday - movies and "afternoon tea" with a cute girly.
Inbetween times - organise life by putting bits of paper into expander-files.

toraneko, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"organise life by putting bits of paper into expander-files" => warning: this DOESN'T WORK!!

mark s, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

you see i am putting my bits of paper into RING-BINDAHS = this time i shall triumph over chaos

also blog update possibly maybe; also make HUGE INROADS into definitive lotr essay (notes alone currently = 19,000 words!!); also distribute discussion on the anxiety of influence w.f.kogan to various unsuspecting worthies

mark s, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This weekend will be spent staring at my empty bank account and trying to figure out which creature comforts are getting the axe before May. Also, I have to do my taxes. AAAAARGH.

Dan Perry, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Writing essays on 1) Notions of authenticity as they relate to "primitive" art and 2) Jane Eyre + Wide Sargasso Sea. Maybe going out somewhere on Saturday night.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have to work. All weekend. 23 1/2 hours on Saturday and Sunday. That sucks. Besides that I will drink and abuse Audiogalaxy.

adam, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is Spiritualized meant to sound bettah now? Who left the band?

Allegedly Jason fired almost everybody again, except for the crew he recruited from Julian Cope. I therefore have hope.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nothing tonite, maybe a movie and dinner in. tomorrow i am getting up early to go to THEE FARMERS MARKET (mmmm nummy vegitables) and then being drug to see that VERY OLD MANG jonathan richman play a set of the hated live music.*

(*this post unconsciously brought to you by starry sarah.)

jess, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

friday nite: a movie most likely
saturday: JAPANESE MONSTER WRESTLING, les savy fav, clinic
sunday: party
monday: yo la tengo

geeta, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm gonna spend my weekend + Monday + Tuesday hermetically sealed inside my apartment, waiting for my face to heal. Once again, the robot angels captured me and zapped me with laser beams.

No, I lied -- it was actually my dermatologist. He's cute, though.

Michael Daddino, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonite I'm going to some UFO presentation up at my college (it's free and there will probably be cookies). I'll eventually get to doing my homework which consists of a lengthy Spanish assignment, studying for a Western Civilization exam, studying for a Computer exam, and finally studying for an Algebra exam. Mmm.

Western Civilization classes I assume are more for Americans-do Europeans have them, or are they just called History?

Lindsey B, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Totally out of the blue: My cousin and I attending a gig. Guy who's friends with Many Chao. Beats watching top of the pops... err maybe not? heh. Maybe I should stay home and have "ain't it fun" on replay till I bop bop bop on the ceiling.

nathalie, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Manu Chao. Whatever.

nathalie, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Trying to find a new place to live (house buying in London is expensive and stressful!), and if I feel like it trying to write a very serious, literary/arty article on classic comic strip Krazy Kat.

Martin Skidmore, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tomorrow i will be at work where i hope to sell many many bicycles. On sunday, I will prob take squawky boy for a walk in the woods, where he will throw stone in the river. At some point it would be very nice if i were to play my synthesisers. All too Xciting, yes?

Norman Phay, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Celebrating a friend's birthday tonight, followed by a farewell dinner (for me). Saturday: Seeing Mull Historical Society. Sunday: packing, packing and yet more packing....

Nichole Graham, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm photocopying up Frank's APA, visiting my parents, boozing with Danes, living the dream, and if I have time attending a Palestinian support demo.

DV, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I appreciate yer efforts, DV, but god knows I'd have a hard time supporting anybody in that mess -- or rather, I'd be chanting loudly against anyone with a bomb and for those who just want to be left alone.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well, tonight i went to the elementary school carnival and ran a game and i'm not even telling about that. i can't do anything for the rest of the night because my friends are taking acts tomorrow morning and cannot go out. tomorrow i am going shopping and then babysitting. sunday is mom's birthday so i'm not doing anything then besides sitting around and pretending to celebrate.

Maria, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

playing with knoves.

, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Going to see Crossroads

Graham, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

that was a typo but hey it's EVEN BETTER.

, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonight I drink. Tomorrow I may or may not drive a couple of hours to run the camcorder at a Tae Kwon Do tournament my expert friend is in. From what I can gather, he plans to break a rediculous number of boards in a very short period of time with unexpected parts of his body. So that should be entertaining.

Dan I., Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ridiculous, of course.

Dan I., Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

making another probably ill-fated attempt to write song lyrics that don't suck.

di, Friday, 5 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Putting ten pounds on NIKI DEE to win the Grand National. He's certainly light enough.

Mark C, Saturday, 6 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's sat. night & i'm sitting at home on my own. per usual.

, Saturday, 6 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've never even been to Llandudno Junction! Or done the Conwy Valley line, although I've done that route many times by car.

Tim! I forgot to text you back, shit.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 24 March 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

There's no need to be like that. I was only trying to be friendly.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 24 March 2006 11:50 (nineteen years ago)

Tonight I am watching the critically panned 'Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl' and playing 'We Love Katamari' with the kids and eating Chinese food and popcorn and sweets and chips and dips and stuff.

Tomorrow I am digging a BIG HOLE and pouring concrete into it!

On Sunday I may get to the pub to watch football and see how my friends cope with being social outcasts (smokers).

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 24 March 2006 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

Hm, tonight I'm chilling out after a busy week and CHORES which make up a QNI.

Tomorrow a fashion friend wants to take me to what she calls 'Buddhism for Sinners', then there is Emsk's party.

Sunday, novelist friend and I are going to farmer's market etc. in Islington then possibly walking her dog. Her launch is on Tuesday and I'm still having footwear choice issues and have to of course check how dressy it is, or isn't.

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 24 March 2006 15:00 (nineteen years ago)

saturday, im going to soem experimental stuff on saturday....and practicing for my dj competition! ive already got a tracklisting sorted out

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

I never knew there was a name for those! I have a whole collection of them from every contract I've done (and most tours I've done, too.)

Did I Mention My PAISLEY SOCKS? (kate), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I never said what I was doing:

Tonight, staying in and doing a ton of washing
Tomorrow, birthday party
Sunday, train to Durham. I love that section between Edinburgh and Durham and am rather looking forward to it, if not to the week-long training course which is the purpose of my journey.

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

Tonight = watching telly. Grant's back in EastEnders! West Wing! My Name is Earl! Hustle! Jonathan Ross! (drinking wine too)

Tomorrow = Going to the pub to watch the Liverpool v Everton game. Plans after that dependent on others, but I have a friend who plans to celebrate the whole of the last day of legal smoking in pubs by spending it smoking in pubs. I may spend some of that day with him until my lungs can't cope anymore.

Sunday = Watching the football. Not smoking in a pub.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:51 (nineteen years ago)

Going to a fancy restaurant for dinner tonight and then to the Ice Factory to see the Fake Fictions perform. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I'm going to go suit-shopping with my friends Renee and Blake (I'm going to four weddings in the next five months), and then to the Edgewater Lounge for Kelsey's going-away party. On Sunday, I'm having dinner with my parents at Lula Cafe at around 5 PM, but not sure yet what I'm doing before or after that.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 24 March 2006 19:58 (nineteen years ago)

Friday night: going to a party in a Williamsburg railroad apartment...a new friend who loves Kompakt like I do, so hopefully there'll be grand music, and new people

Saturday: after getting up in the afternoon, will try out New York's new Trader Joe's (Union Square). I expect delicious, cheap food. Then tomorrow night I'll probably go and see the Glimmer Twins play...

Sunday is my birthday (32nd). I'll fuck around during the day, then my wife and I are meeting friends for dinner.

Hmm, a more exciting weekend than I usually have. I've been looking forward to it for a few days!

paulhw (paulhw), Saturday, 25 March 2006 01:18 (nineteen years ago)

trader joe's isn't really all that cheap, you know

nervous (cochere), Saturday, 25 March 2006 01:28 (nineteen years ago)

oh. hmm, i guess i was a hype sucker. cheaper / better than Whole Foods though?

paulhw (paulhw), Saturday, 25 March 2006 01:31 (nineteen years ago)

trader joe's isn't really all that cheap, you know

That really, really depends on what you buy there.

Joe Polniaczek (kenan), Saturday, 25 March 2006 01:32 (nineteen years ago)

Liter of Jameson for $19.99. That's really all that matters.

uh, it's not? it's pretty fucking cheap, dude.

for me, weekends are just the days when most people aren't in the office. which is kinda nice.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Saturday, 25 March 2006 08:57 (nineteen years ago)

trader joe's isn't really all that cheap, you know

I heartily disagree.

When I go there I stock up several things that are around half the price they are at Jewel and of course waaaay less than at Whole Foods:

-goat cheese
-crushed garlic
-oils
-frozen veggies (the fancy kinds like edamame and string beans)
-frozen fruit

But this is a good place to say AVOID THE SUSHI!!! It's vile.

Daddy's Little Duder (unclejessjess), Saturday, 25 March 2006 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

Also cheap at TJ:
- vitamins, minerals, supplements
- pasta
- orchids (they last forever too)
- those butter cookies with the thick chocolate centers
- coarse gray sea salt

I wish there was one near us. Whenever we go to Seattle (4.5 hrs away), we take a cooler and make a stock-up stop at Trader Joes the last thing before we head home.

Jaq (Jaq), Saturday, 25 March 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

we dont have trader joe's here so i cant confirm, but dont they only really sell their private label brand? that's why they can be cheap.

POOP BITCH (Mandee), Saturday, 25 March 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

No Mandee. Sort of though. I'll explain.

They sell a lot of different brands, but when they hit they try to start relabelling them with their private label. They don't have many (any?) brands like Kraft etc, but they have a lot of variety of other things.

Oh! I almost forgot the most obvious cheap thing: 2 Buck Chuck! Yeh, it's bad wine, but it's better than most stuff you'd serve at a gallery opening that retails for way more.

And they have a nice selection of other wines with values to be found.

Daddy's Little Duder (unclejessjess), Saturday, 25 March 2006 17:52 (nineteen years ago)

I forgot "phoning my mum for Mothers' Day" and "not going to swanky restaurant with my husband and his mother for Mothers' Day because he booked it for when the football was on and assumed I wouldn't want to go".

Wow, this scared the bejesus out of me b/c I thought I had forgotten about Mother's Day. I assume you're English? ("Mum") And in England MD falls earlier?

Daddy's Little Duder (unclejessjess), Saturday, 25 March 2006 17:53 (nineteen years ago)

A lot of what they keep in stock is their own brand, but they also do quantity buys on lots of other stuff. I don't know about hard liquor, because the ones in our state can't sell it, but they always have decent deals on several well-known wines each time we're there. Also things like Rumford no-aluminum baking powder and King Arthur flours and Ghiradelli chocolates - stuff like that - but those aren't always in stock. I'd say it's probably a 60/40 split between their own brand and other name brands.

Jaq (Jaq), Saturday, 25 March 2006 17:55 (nineteen years ago)

I assume you're English?

In England, Mother's Day (or Mothering Sunday, as it's also called) is a religious holiday, in that it is scheduled by the Episcopalian calendar, falling on 3rd Sunday Of Lent.

(I'm Scottish)

Oops, sorry. I forgot that others say "mum." (I waited on a table of men with English accents and somehow I mentioned, "I noticed you're British." They corrected me, saying, "No. We're English. I'm a little confused by the whole thing. But I am well aware that Scottish does not equal English.)
