On Sunday I may get to the pub to watch football and see how my friends cope with being social outcasts (smokers).

Tomorrow a fashion friend wants to take me to what she calls 'Buddhism for Sinners', then there is Emsk's party.
Sunday, novelist friend and I are going to farmer's market etc. in Islington then possibly walking her dog. Her launch is on Tuesday and I'm still having footwear choice issues and have to of course check how dressy it is, or isn't.

Tomorrow = Going to the pub to watch the Liverpool v Everton game. Plans after that dependent on others, but I have a friend who plans to celebrate the whole of the last day of legal smoking in pubs by spending it smoking in pubs. I may spend some of that day with him until my lungs can't cope anymore.
Sunday = Watching the football. Not smoking in a pub.

Saturday: after getting up in the afternoon, will try out New York's new Trader Joe's (Union Square). I expect delicious, cheap food. Then tomorrow night I'll probably go and see the Glimmer Twins play...
Sunday is my birthday (32nd). I'll fuck around during the day, then my wife and I are meeting friends for dinner.
Hmm, a more exciting weekend than I usually have. I've been looking forward to it for a few days!

I heartily disagree.
When I go there I stock up several things that are around half the price they are at Jewel and of course waaaay less than at Whole Foods:
-goat cheese-crushed garlic-oils-frozen veggies (the fancy kinds like edamame and string beans)-frozen fruit
But this is a good place to say AVOID THE SUSHI!!! It's vile.

I wish there was one near us. Whenever we go to Seattle (4.5 hrs away), we take a cooler and make a stock-up stop at Trader Joes the last thing before we head home.

They sell a lot of different brands, but when they hit they try to start relabelling them with their private label. They don't have many (any?) brands like Kraft etc, but they have a lot of variety of other things.
Oh! I almost forgot the most obvious cheap thing: 2 Buck Chuck! Yeh, it's bad wine, but it's better than most stuff you'd serve at a gallery opening that retails for way more.
And they have a nice selection of other wines with values to be found.

Wow, this scared the bejesus out of me b/c I thought I had forgotten about Mother's Day. I assume you're English? ("Mum") And in England MD falls earlier?

― Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 26 March 2006 07:26 (nineteen years ago)
In England, Mother's Day (or Mothering Sunday, as it's also called) is a religious holiday, in that it is scheduled by the Episcopalian calendar, falling on 3rd Sunday Of Lent.
― Forest Pines (ForestPines), Sunday, 26 March 2006 07:30 (nineteen years ago)
I assume you're English?
Oops, sorry. I forgot that others say "mum." (I waited on a table of men with English accents and somehow I mentioned, "I noticed you're British." They corrected me, saying, "No. We're English. I'm a little confused by the whole thing. But I am well aware that Scottish does not equal English.)
American Mother's Day is...2nd Sunday in May? I just know that on some years it's on my birthday.
