anyone ever had an experience with one?

did you push the glass in an attempt to put the shits up the cute 16 year old in the tight top? did it spell out anything nasty? did you have a sudden urge to kill your family everytime you heard a Judas Priest song afterwards?

at my middle school, for two weeks in the winter, between quarters, we had a thing called 'winter opportunities' where you would sign up for little 'mini-courses' that were maybe a bit unconventional or a chance to try something new. One time there was one called 'intro to the occult' and had a week-long agenda of topics. On day two, the Ouija boards came out, and that was that... we didn't do anything else all week but play on the Ouija boards. These two students kept contacting some little girl who said she was murdered by her parents or something like that. Was it real or bullshit?? I dunno but it was pretty interesting. It does feel pretty weird with your fingers on the thing and it's moving around...

we used to do ouija boards between classes at school, drawn on the torn-out middle page of a copybook.

we got eva braun on ours, she predicted my junior cert results (wrong), the first person i would snog (wrong) and the initials of the man i would marry (pending). another girl in our class was in contact with a little boy who said he was in purgatory and eventually announced that he could no longer talk to her as his stay there was being extended as punishment for allowing her into the hidden realm or some such.

i never really believed it but i still felt anxious enough to go to confession where the priest spoke to me quite sternly and gave me three hail-marys penance.

These were probably my #2 childhood fear, placing after and closely tied to my #1 fear of being possessed by an evil being. Someone was telling scary oiuja board stories at my friend's birthday when I was nine or so – it was the first time I had ever heard of them and I was crying so intensely that it irritated everyone else & her stepmom chose to drive me home. I saw one in a toy store shortly after and it was like seeing the fucking Necronomicon next to the Candyland and Monopoly boards.I couldn't believe it was just so banally for sale.

When I was a kid my young aunt and I played with a Ouija board at my grandparent's house and my grandfather took it away from us and burned it in the trash hole by the garden.

Then six years ago I bought a Ouija board and polyurethaned it to a coffee table and we had a Ouija board coffee table for a few years. Take that, Pop Pop!
