jess, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i have made a right mess of my life of late

anthony, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i have to go to work now (eg theirs not mine) (hey i did two-hours worth of my own, on tolkien!!) (ph34r m3!!) (soon i will be reaedy to tackle my book again possibly maybe) (if only it were'nt for those pesky meddlesome long-promised FT articles)

mark s, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm gonna get my haircut tomorrow. No particular style, just the usual £5.50 job.

jel --, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There was a man, er, how do I say this politely, WHACKING OFF in the pub last night. Not in the toilets just sat down in the actual pub. You wouldn't get that sort of behaviour in a bar.

Jonnie, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've been a bit blue ever since coming back from holiday. Contributory factors: I am a huge fat whale and have really started to notice it lately. I have no willpower or organisational abilities.

On the other hand this is a long way from being miserable or depressed. It's Spring, I'm in the black, I'm moving to London, I'm reading more than I have for years, I have some wonderful friends, I've not been writing much but I've been happy with what I have been writing. The balance sheet is positive, definitely.

Tom, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonight I start my music technology course, which I know nothing about other than it will give me the chance to play with some top new toys that make sound. I will then become a famous studio sound engineer.

Last night I saw SPEARMINGT. They were ace, and i discovered that a not so close acquaintance works with one of the band. Didn't establish which one, but they both work as record buyers at Virgin.

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There's really nothing new with me at all. I feel like I am walking round looking at the sky thinking 'something's got to give'.

Anna, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm just trying not to fall asleep right now, I've had about 3 hours sleep in the past couple of days thanks to projects I've had to work on for my classes.

Nicole, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Unusually, I'm waiting for people to get back to me. Regarding a possible job (not quite yay! yet, but we'll see) and about my moped, which is buggered, and they need to give me quotes on fixing it. Bloody thing. So I'm doing my usual aimless loafing, not washing the bathroom, leafing through newspaper supplements from the last fortnight. It's a bit boring to be honest.

Mark C, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

umm i'm at the pub. we're soon going to my place to watch "omen". some guy thought i was this person i can't stand. urghh.

di, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Just been offered some work! That's a turn-up for the books. Script editing a (or possibly 2) 12-minute animated TV episode, with a scary deadline!

Gulp...

Mark C, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We have a court summons because of Alice not paying her council tax. Most other things are shit but is that anything new?

Sarah, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Congratulations Mark!

Nicole, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

...except for the fact that it is scary, in that case sort of congratulations.

Nicole, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you Nicole! It's only really scary because I, er, don't really know what I'm doing. Damn lack of talent and experience!

I need to find a writer this afternoon. Double gulp!

Mark C, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There are a bunch of writers here, you know.

Actually, doesn't Alang also work with writers? I know he knows a bunch of Doctor Who authors...

What's new with me? Trying to figure out how to pay for Joei's grad school, plus trying to pick between Boston Conservatory or Logy School of Music. I'm also trying to figure out how to compress the amount of time I spend on things I don't enjoy about my new job. (I suspect that actually doing them as opposed to whining about them and putting them off until the last minute may be the correct answer here.)

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've ordered some CDs from LTM Publishing (go on, have a guess) and now weigh 16st 7lb, as opposed to 17st 3lb on March 25th.

DG, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm a little bit crazy, have had a magnificent day, it's 2.39am, i bought a nice supercheap pair of orange patterned socks today, and lots of other great cheap things (a NZ$6 hohner melodica!) and i want the heaven of hearing "brand new key" by melanie.
my mother is visiting me tomorrow (sort of today then really), from quite a long way away like the other end of the south island in this country type thing aotearoa. and i got to see my most lovely loverman. i'm wearing a green scarf; i'm very fond of the green spectrum, oh and my days are numbered though so people (like hamish) think that because something hasn't happened yet (eg i am still alive) then the number of days or minutes of heartbeats i have yet to breathe the number is non-existent. i however find this hard to accept.

elizabeth anne marjorie, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't WORK with authors. The very thought >shudder<. Ah, you know i'm only fooling around. Writers -- damn fine chaps, all of them.

I'm some impressed with one of my mates as she has just been asked to script doctor a show that has Jess "spaced" Stevenson (my tv crush) in. Unfortunately she's not convinced she's going to keep it on. chalice and poisoned, apparently (the script, not the swoonsome Jess).

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i want the heaven of hearing "brand new key" by melanie
but i don't have it

elizabeth anne marjorie, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What kind of writer do you need Mark. The kind that under the influence of coffee invents episodes of Black Books for his own amusement?

Pete, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

that rules DG. your query re. walking last week, set me off on a week of walking hither and thither round my area. only lost 1 lb of nickie but felt a whole lot bloody better.

nickie, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well done DG! I haf been going to the GYM but seeing as the weight I want to lose is a depressingly huge amount (FOUR STONE) I am not going to tell anyone if I successed or not chiz.

Sarah, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How can I guess, DG? I've ordered all those myself! ;-)

Uh -- fighting off a semi-head cold, which annoys me as I just *had* one a month ago, feh. But! The Melvins tonight, so that should clear my sinuses. Brian visits at the end of the week, Daylight Savings has improved my mood immensely, the house looks great and all is well.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A dear friend died last week. Just got the news. Apart from that, all is well, I guess. Oh no, my mobile sceeen is cracked. It's only three months old. Me and machines don't get along. heh.

nathalie, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark C: Just been offered some work! That's a turn-up for the books. Script editing a (or possibly 2) 12-minute animated TV episode, with a scary deadline!

*Mark, congrats! Despite the scary deadline, at least you can try to blag an exemption from the TV License Taxes this year. Surely, TV script writers must get some perks?

As for what's new, Jess, not a damn thing;> Been packing to move (to London) for what seems like years....and fighting an (uncharacteristic) bout of depression, today. Odd, since I have nowt to really be sad about. Practicing my HTML and other computer skills for the new teaching job I (hope to) get next month.

Nichole Graham, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i just got home from my choir concert, which was horrid, but i'm happy because i went shopping for 15 minutes beforehand (NOTHING to wear!) and i now have a bright pink shirt and a black shirt. tomorrow i'm taking a trillion tests and then i am going to visit schools in maryland and philadelphia. And i haven't done my latin homework.

Maria, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nathalie: Sorry to hear about your friend.

I bought one of those CDs. It's good, but I was expecting something FANTASTIC!

I saw my new apartment this weekend. Hooray! I am getting nervous about packing and moving though.

rosemary, Tuesday, 9 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My mother waited entire day before she told me. Like I couldn't tell. But it's okay. Don't worry.
I just discovered Viggo Mortensen was married to Exene from X! How crazy is that? Maybe I am their bastard child? I wish. heh.

nathalie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

last night RickyT and i got drunk and watched a Pixies bootleg video and got VERY EXCITED as we remembered how much we LOVE the Pixies. then i posted silly things on the ILx compilation tape thread. today my head feels groggy. but was it worth it? YOU BETCHA.

katie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Morning.

Just about to head off to my big meeting. I was looking for a writer with whom I'd worked before on major TV series so that I could be sure that if I got them the gig, they'd be the epitome of talent and professionalism etc. In theory at least. I found one, but naturally her agent isn't happy with the fees etc, so I'll have to hammer that out later. Typical.

Spect you'll hear from me later, either in manic doing-stuff-and- feeling-professional mode, or dperessed, scared and baffled mode. Joy!

Oh, and see you all tomorrow night.

Mark C, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Good luck!

Last night I met our landlady for the first time and there is a chance of actually getting my curtains fixed (right now they are pegged/masking taped to the window/wall sigh), phoned my parents and whinged, went to the gym and sweated, come home and ate CHIPS and SOSSAGE and wotched At Home With The Braithwaites, washed hair and went to bed. I could be more exciting yes.

Sarah, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hiya!!!! I'm in paris and it's gorgeous, last night I saw b&s and they were the opposite of how they were in Brixton, simply fantastic and in a beautiful setting too. Things are quite awesome in fact, apart from these dodgy french keyboards with the letters all over the place, lots of pretty girls but they all look so sad, and I daren't ask why.

chris, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe they are sad cos they are French and their music is rubbidge?

I am in a typically mental place whereby I weep for how much weight I have put on over the winter, beat myself up over it then go home and scoff all the leftover Ferrero Rocher from my dinner party on Saturday night (sorry Pete if you wanted any...there are 1 or 2 left). Oh dear. At least the sun is shining.

(NB I did not buy the Ferrero Rocher, they were a dinner party gift).

Emma, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i have a drs appointment b4 i go totally mental which looks like its going to happen pdq

anthony, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How about we chat about Pilates? I was thinking of attending a CLARSE at my gym, but haf realised I do not really know what it is. I would also like to do yoga, if only to try and renact (sadly) amusing Vodafone advert with a womang falling ovah flat on her face in a contorted comedy slapstick manXoR.

Sarah, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No no not Pilates, when walking into Crouch End on Saturday I saw a sign on a disused shop's door saying 'PILATES STUDIO OPENING SOON' and I thought oh goody how splendid then caught myself and thought arrghh no I have been in Crouch End for TOO LONG I am going mental.

Emma, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yoga is nice and relaxing except if you do the ashtanga version which requires you to thrash about like a maniac and makes you sweat. Any form of exercise where you get to have a wee lie down at the end of the class is ok with me, though. Pilates involves lots of talk about pelvic floor muscles, which is frankly undignified. PS. THREE people in the office now have Roobarb and bleedin' Custard on their phones since that bleedin’ advert.

Jane, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i woke up to the sound of my flatmate yacking up two-years-of-smoking in the bathroom. i started running a bath and went back to bed. i stepped in the bath. i stepped out of the bath went upstairs and kicked the boiler. i washed my hair in ice-cold water. i could not bare it long enough to wash out all the suds. i thanked the gods for leave-in conditioner.

i arrived at work only 8 mins late and cursed the fact that my boss wasn't there to see and congratulate my rare almost-punctuality. i rang clement freud's house, then rang his mobile, left a message and am now shivering with fear at the thought of him ringing me back as he is a very scarey man.

i am going to greenwich tonight and am wondering whether to go to glasshouse stores tomorrow.

nickie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i had to give up yoga as was ruining mood of serenity in room by laughing at the sound of everybody's farting.

whether due to nut roasts or the descent from extended periods in wind-inducing contortions, yoga classes = bottom flute practise.

nickie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am enjoying college more cos I now know the bunch of mentalists I went away to Sligo with. Although I am feeling guilty since they are possibly "the wrong crowd".

And last night I let a canvassing person talk to me for 20 minutes and then said "well that's all fantastic, but there's no way I'll ever vote for your party because I'm related to the leader of......".

ho ho ho.

Ronan, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey Ronang I heard that X-Press 2 track in the gym last night. When you thought it was good, were you in drugs? I haf two lines to take on this, one harsh, one willing to give it another listen. The latter thinks 'perhaps the sound was bad, perhaps you were just tired from CROSS TRAINING' or the harsh line thinks 'it is the dance music Sweeping the Nation HORROR NO it is four to the floor Spearmingt but with special guest star'.

Sarah, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

On the contrary I very very rarely hear it when under the influence. I do overrate it though. It's excellent to a point and then my love for it makes me rate it even higher. I bitterly hate crappy reviews about songs changing peoples lives, and it DIDN'T change my life, but I can't remember connecting with any song as much as with Lazy. The few times I HAVE heard it when out, it's been fantastic.

I don't know Spearmint, but Lazy is the smoothest song I've heard this year. And lyrically it's really good too.

Perhaps it's not the best song to hear for the first time in a gym? The college gym plays Chocolate Puma alot.

Ronan, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

sarahg, it is YOU who is on the druckqs. X-Press 2 song does not in the least sound like spearmingt.

My evening class yesterday turned out to be non-existent. The class of us (5 in total) were a little pissed off to say the least. I was furious cos the same college had made a complete arse of the other course I signed up for (with 2 classes and 1 teacher between them). Fuming mad, I am now on the refund path for both classes. I wish I was the sort to get really mad and shout at people, but I'm too bloody reasonable (it's not HIS fault, it's a management screw-up).

Alan T, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well Alang no of course it does not sound like Speamingt, but the thing of dull mumbled noncing over the top of an uninspired backing is similiar to them both.

hard line sarah, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ronan. who? i can only think of gareth fitzgerald, old fine gael leader. *intriguing*

nickie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

A bettah song for the gym is Flick from Neighbours new RAUNCHY single cooo. It's very catchy grrr and made me stay on the cross trainer for a few more minutes when I was going to sack it in. MTVs ad breaks are NOT GOOD things to run to.

Sarah, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i am looking at houses that are rubbish and crap, east finchley the other night, hornsey tonight, plaistow at the weekend, but it is hard because they are all rubbish and i dont want to live in london anymore because it is too expensive

gareth, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Michael Noonan. I guess he can be googled now and the Sun will have "LEADERS NEPHEW ENJOYS RAVE SHOCKER".

You'd think it'd be Gareth Fitzgerald alright.

Ronan, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And Flicks single!!!!! The hussy!!! Joe Scully will not like this one bit. it's the raunchiest video EVER.

Ronan, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Surprise today. While flicking through mag in a shop I noticed there was an article written by our local Dutch ILM hunka Omar Munoz! :-)

nathalie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hza! my arrow found the dragon's fleshy bare breast!! i have got a STRCTURE for lotr article, so now = no longer "rhizomatic" (tr. confused and unreadable) but has an ARGUMENT which readers can be mesmerised/pissed off by!!

howevah, i find i can no longer see a context for my brill joke re fact that the orcs with most filled-in character and dialogue in RotK are called GORBAG and SHAGRAT!!

mark s, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Angel" is on an ad break. Before that I watched "North Square" which I love (major crush on that upper class barrister guy). Overall I'm positive but stressed out and overworked. Too many commitments at uni, too many people I find it difficult to say no to. No time to think creative. But yeah, life is good. I'm not much of an ups and downs person though so I would say that.

Tim, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah=so right.

Tonight I am off to see Ver Lolleez. Tis Kate's birthday, should I start a thread?
