I can't remember what I did with my copy of this book. I either gave it to a friend or threw it in the garbage. Didion is a whiner - she comes across as the poor little rich girl, complaining about being in the studio when Paul McCartney recorded Why don't we do it in the road. Sorry Joan, I wish you could have been there when the Beatles recorded Ob la di, ob la da if the other track wasn't significant enough! Her other noteworthy tidbit is being in the recording studio with the Doors when Jim Morrison showed up late and either too high or too mental to record. Joan should know that life is full of disappointments. However, I know lots of people who would have felt it was exciting to see Morrison in person, even at his crazy worst. If you're looking to revel in the pseudo heartbreaks of a neurot, I recommend this book.
No, wait - that last line is why I'd WANT to buy the book! Neurotic pseudo-heartbreaks? I'll have two, thanks. And with some histrionic brow-beating on the side.
Actually, I think what I really want is a peacoat.
More ANYTHING(s), please.
Today it was a remaindered book shop, and I bought Pop Art by Tilman Osterwald (an art book), Jack Maggs and True History of The Kelly Gang, both by Peter Carey, Blue Diary by Alice Hoffman, I Married A Communist by Philip Roth and Angelica's Grotto by Russell Hoban, which is apparently a novel about internet sex, so the closest thing to relevant here. Obviously I bought it for its literary value, not at all to read some porn. Then I met my cousin, and she gave me some books: Girl Nobody by Tomek Tryzna, Pleasured by Philip Hensher and Don't Call It Night by Amos Oz.
The best bargain in the bookshop was the whole of John Updike's Rabbit tetralogy, for me one of the great literary works of the last century, in hardback for £3.99! It may have had Ulysses at the same price too! Everyone needs these!

Three to six months. Damn, that's a ways away.
I should buy more comics.
