p.dodd the editor of s&s under whom i served lo these many yrs ago was a mad beanieman also: it was "smart" he said (a word i haf picked up from him); h'blowah is a bit too in wuv with the perfection of the central character, but some of the side-stuff is good

ans = sharpe, i think, but i only watched it a coupla times

h'blowah aCtOr was in Man and Boy, which wuz a mistake at every level: inc mine and my mum's for watching it.

Hownblowah!! It's a rollicking yarn about ABLE SEAMENG! Top banana and Iaun whotevah his name is is a lot better than bladdy Boromir oh I mean Sean Bean.

Hmmm. Does it have an evil senior officer who talks to his hat?

RickyT, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually it does haf a mentalist senior officer but I do not think he talks to his hat. Hornblower PROOF that is it best = LARGE PRESCENCE OF RHUM!!! MSO does sing a lot and gets straitjacketed and pushed down into THE BRIG and stuff. I wuv Hornblower. And it has a funny name, hur hur.

Anybody watch Sharpes Challenge last night? It concludes tonight.

Great stuff, and it had boobies in it!

I have the complete Sharpe on DVD, but I find it hard to watch because the music is complete RUBBISH. And I am always embarrassed by it.

three years pass...

Beginning with the first Sharpe, and despite the unfortunate choices in music(metalloid guitar and synth), dude has some wicked, WICKED proper sideburns

And Brian Cox has some awesome padawan braids going on

Ok, now I see why the music is so atrocious; they use it to denote the ending of scenes & acts, like we're watching Magnum PI or something
