...and will it prove to have a limited 'trigger happy' shelf life (or has it already?)

There's another thread about this somewhere - I love Jackass but hate Trigger Happy.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

they're both wretched

I still quite like Trigger Happy but it got dull after the first series. Watching trailers of Jackass I thought it looked rubbish but after seeing the show it is wonderful.

Yeah, like Ally C I thought 'Jackass' was really NOT going to be my thing - oh no, prankster jocks on skateboards - but I larfed and larfed at the egg eating/puking stunt and have been addicted ever since. The gd thing abt the prog - as opposed to the vile 'Trigger Happy' - is that the joke is as much on the presenters as the 'dumb public'.

I have no idea what Trigger Happy is but I heart Jackass. Some favorite bits: Night Monkey, drinking 40s and jumping on cars to make the alarms go off; Dutch Girl; and Belt Sander Skates. heh heh.

words cannot express my love for Jackass, apart from the ones on the other thread that is.

chris, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I Love Nightmonkey!!! I'm stealing his bit. I love jackass altogether. Generic fat guy chasing midget=instant classic. Some of the bits are a little tired, but there is always that element of raw comic accidental genius that I cannot live without.

Deadman, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

some members of this little community may or may not have re-enacted car park stunts a few weeks ago, no bones were broken.

chris, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The genius of Jackass is the sense of togetherness it creates, the main particpants seem almost like a family. Of madmen. But there's the fun!

Ally C, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

all your names have been noted, and I will be having you all executed come the revolution.

Lady One Question!!

Is that what she's called? I saw her do Nigella (yes yes fnar fnar ramosi) and it woz funny. I larfed non-stop and so did the Us.Sus.

mark s, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

banzai? which i do find amusing. (yeah, i know i don't make any sense)

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Another cool thing abt 'Jackass' - they use a Minutemen song for their theme tune!

Andrew L, Wednesday, 10 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I prefer Banzai to Jackass - dunno why as they're actually quite similar. maybe it's the fact that they turn all the stunts into a quiz and they involve ageing indie rock stars in some of them. (Like the one where they measured Shaun Ryder's weight in coke cans.)

Lady Space Pilot, Thursday, 11 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love the Minutemen. They also used the Circle Jerks' "Wild in the Streets" for the skateboarding w/out wheels bit. Not the best Circle Jerks, but still pretty great.

Deadman, Thursday, 11 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

see i was going to say cabbage to thread, but he's already here... I liked the bit where they went to Mianus huh huh, huh etc

there's a guy pumping in mianus, chortle...

CarsmileSteve, Thursday, 11 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That was a great bit too. He he, they drove all the way there just to play 12 year old humor. I love it.

Deadman, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jackass somes up todays culture: cruel, stupid, but pretty damn funny.

Lee, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Jackass.........you watch it, I live it.
