There always seems to be some old pervie guy with a very dewy looky young girl. A lot of marlboro cigarettes...

Yes and they all wear stripey jumpers and wear a string of onions round their neck and say 'zut alors!' the whole time, fer fuck's sake...use other lazy national stereotypes pl!

Au contraire andrew I racked my brains and failed to come up with a single French movie where there was someone wearing a stripey jumper...

Jules et Jim. Strip jumpers a gog go. A Bout De Souffle has the odd one too.

I was very disappointed by lack of stripey jumpers in Normandy. Maybe the Parisians still know how to do these things properly. Cabbage?

Tom, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom you weren't looking properly! In Arromanche there was a shop selling nothing but! And in Ouistreham.

Mind you I suppose boys don't notice clothes shops especially if they are preoccupied with buying toy soldiers & beer.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the berets and stripey jumper thing is a Breton thing.

I am wearing a stripey jumper I bought in Brittany. Zut alorts, je suis trés Francais.

DV, Friday, 12 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ah, saw this a little late, not many stripey jumpers were seen being worn in Paree, but I can report back on the fact that there were quite a few shops stuffed with the blighters, mind you, so are The Gap and Hennes at the moment.
