Miami Beach-born director Brett Ratner has apologized for telling an audience at a film screening, "Rehearsing is for fags."
"It was a dumb way of expressing myself," Ratner, 42, said in a statement, according to Associated Press. "Everyone who knows me knows that I don't have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words."

Ratner is a self professed "germaphobe" who makes his chicks take STD tests before he does the business. Lindsay Lohan was one of many.
Ratner spilled his mating ritual secrets on Monday morning's Howard Stern Show, including the fact that he made the troubled actress go to his doctor and get checked for STDs before the two had sex.
― buzza, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 05:25 (fourteen years ago)
The last few days have not been the best for director Brett Ratner. Today, while doing a phone interview on The Howard Stern Show, the Tower Heist helmer said he lied about having sex with actress Olivia Munn when he appeared on G4′s Attack of the Show last week. Ratner does call Munn “a friend,” and says the geek cult icon told him he is not the unnamed director she’s refers to in her book as having “undersized manhood.” Ratner continued: “She’s actually talented. The problem is I made her look like she’s a whore.

I like Beverly Hills Chihuahua and the two Scooby Doo movies. Wouldn't have thought to check out the Smurfs though. Hmmm...
― rustic italian flatbread, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 16:01 (fourteen years ago)
Nah, Fincher is different. He's never made an outright bro-bait film. "Fight Club" was only sort of bro in retrospect. Proto-bro?

Meet the McG that killed me.

"McG attended Corona del Mar High School, where he met Mark McGrath, initially wanting to become the lead singer of a band he formed with McGrath. However, he failed as a front man and persuaded McGrath to take over, working behind the scenes as producer and marketer for the band, which later scored several hit singles as Sugar Ray."

Really weird to read that LATimes hand-wringing essay that doesn't mention the Oscar telecast is being hosted by Eddie fuckin' Murphy, whose past transgressions re: homophobia put Rattner's relatively slight gaffe to shame.
