i find drag queens, trannies, and goths sexy. i love the whole over-the-top-ness of it All. how about you?

di, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

especially trannies. It's just so cool... Tattos, fetish nights, glam trannies, the whole shebang. ace.

misterjones, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i want to be a female female impersonator. does anyone find this offensive? if so please say. its just - i want to look like a caricature of femininity. the glamour, the thigh high boots. *sigh* i just saw hedwig and sthe angry inch, and i felyt the same way i did when i saw paris is burning and different for girls, and when i see drag queens performing at powder, despite all of the bad stuff that i know goes on. i felt a deep sense of longing.

di, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah, hedwig! luvvit. Go di go!

My mate Alexis invited me to a sort of private showing of his shoprt film (an interview with sum famour NYC tranny) at the Hollywood showbar in Manchester. Alexis looked divine, in a longish old fasioned white dress. Pure class. That was tround about the time I saw Hedwig, and I jsut totally fell in love with the whole cross dressing thing, purely from an observers point of view.

But talking to people on the scene I hear it can be a v. bitchy and quite dark place..

jerry springer gives me a middie on

Queen G, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Di, have you seen "Victor/Victoria"?

Dan Perry, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was about to say. Di could kick Julie Andrews' ass as needed, I'm sure.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no i haven't seen that. yet.

di, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the over-the-top-ness of it alarms me a little, if people are too flamboyant, they could you know, knock my spectacles off with their feather boas ar crush me underneath their humungous shoes or something.

I saw Mary Lambie interviewing two drag queens on Good Morning, she was treating them like two huge flower arrangements, tweaking them here and there, cooing over them. I think they liked it.

rainy, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

then she dressed up as a female female impersonator

ducklingmonster, Monday, 15 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

do you mean like Pamela Anderson?

maryann, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I kind of like Carmen Electra - especially because of her name.

maryann, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

um maryann i think theres a world of difference between looking like pamela anderson and looking like a drag queen. not only the intentions but also the process and the results, and the effects on others. i'm not sure if i should even have responded to your post, because its clear you were just being downright insulting.

di, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think being a female female impersonator is the answer to all of my problems. Go for it! And then I'll copy you and it will be a big exciting new develoment.

I don't think I'd put goths in the same category, as the black thing isn't as fun, but flamboyance is wonderful. I'm not sure quite why, it just appeals.

And dressing flamboyantly does wonderful magical personality-changing things that turn me from introvert into "oh look i can actually talk to strangers without dying".

Maria, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i think its really sad that there's some people around here who like to imply that to be a real feminist i should have breast reduction.

di, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

anyone got any glittery fire-engine red mascara i can borrow? i'm just scared that if i did it, the local homos would find it insulting.

hey duckling, can i dress in drag at our first gig?

di, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hmmm dress-up-di-drag-dolls :p

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"i think its really sad that there's some people around here who like to imply that to be a real feminist i should have breast reduction"

that seems like a rather far-fetched extrapolation.

i'm not going to get into an argument about this with you duane. for the record, i think its maryann's place to respond.

di, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

sorry di I didn't mean to be insulting! I thought I'd heard people refer to those girls as being like drag queens ... the joke being that you know, guys like Tommy Lee think they're being masculine but really they're walking round with drag queens on their arm. i wasn't referring to breast size! sorry that you thought that. actually i'm not sure that i even get what you mean exactly. I just thought that was what you meant. Stupidly.

maryann, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

thanks for clearing that up maryann. its easy for me to get the wrong idea about the pam thing, having gone to a particularly catty high school where the popular girls would make fun of me by calling me pam, dolly, tits, and just make generally unwitty mean fun of my body.

di, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

anyways.... then we will be just like The Holograms! I like flamoyance because i like eyeshadow, great tights, hand bags, fluffy jackets and laughing loud. Whats on your flamboyance list?

ducklingmonster, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

we will be fighting over who gets to be kimber
