vermonter, Tuesday, 18 November 2008 06:59 (sixteen years ago)

Seriously...this season has been pretty great. Much more focused on the business than on the personal life side of things.

As to what happened, you have:
1) Ari buys Lumburgh's Valley agency
2) Drama hires, abuses Turtle/Sal; Turtle/Sal quits in vindictive fashion
3) Drama takes dump in Jason Patric's trailer, does not flush
4) Ari gets really expensive watch, gets Dana Gordon hired as studio head
5) Ari crashes his Ferrari into back of school bus, bitch slaps fellow agent for disrespecting Mrs. Ari, fellow agent loses all possibility of hooking up with cute girl in his office who laughs at said bitch smack
6) Barbara Miller earns money
7) Bow-Wow has sex with REALLY hot girl, punches Seth, E and Seth renew feud; E and Sloan talk
8) Vince pouts, hooks up, gets high, gets hired, gets fired
9) Mrs. Ari continues to be hot, Lloyd continues to be gay
10) Turtle/Sal hooks up with Meadow on plane, in LA, in San Diego; gets high with Meadow on beach while driving Dom's limo; leaves Meadow in order to return to Queens with his boys.

B.L.A.M., Tuesday, 18 November 2008 18:20 (sixteen years ago)

So, you have the following:

Ari - attempting to make the move from agent to SUPERagent
Vince - trying to be an actor who makes movies instead of a movie star, system working against this intent
E - trying to make it as an agent
Drama - settling into life as "that guy" in television series
Turtle/Sal - realizing that life may actually be better - and probably is - when he does other things besides just driving Vince around

I am so stoked that HBO picked this up for another season.

B.L.A.M., Tuesday, 18 November 2008 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

Why did Drama and E just up and leave for New York considering one is on a hit tv series and the other is an agent whos client is casting for another potential hit tv series? So Scorsese casts Vince without even meeting him, and Drama decides to invest in a NY bar (and renounce acting?), and E is fired and re-hired and successful regardless.. all immediately to land us permanently into season 6...I know how they have to develop new threads, but it seemed a bit crammed. Season 4 just seemed so boring, no new dramatic stakes or conflicts, increasingly worse dialogue, contrite situations, etc - the nadir of the series. despite all these cameos there was at least renewed energy in this season, where V is trying to take his career in the "respectable" direction - but how much longer will this go on before it all starts to feel recycled ?
