"that dizzy broad from Alaska"

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 11 September 2008 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

I just did something interesting - I used Google Scholar (admittedly an uppity elitist institution) to search for national and international policy statements and original publications authored by Obama, Biden, McCain, and Palin. Guess who has the most? Guess who has the fewest? Guess who has NONE ! If you guessed that the order of appearance of these names in my list is the actual order of original, self-authored publications WITH IDEAS IN THEM, you'd be correct. Wake up, America. Love, Mom

I didn't ever see her. They really are keeping her under wraps.

Eric H., Thursday, 11 September 2008 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

I was worried my mom would buy into Palin's schtick - she's lived most of her life in rural-ass Michigan, which is basically Alaska Jr. She surprised me and called her out for being a shallow out-of-her-league hypocrite. She also mentioned how she knows tons of women like her (there are literally hundreds of hockey moms around) and she sure as hell doesn't want them running anything. Topping it off was her opinion that if McCain wins it will finally prove her theory that everyone is stupid.

Thanks mom!

my mom forwarded me Gloria Steinem's appropriately harsh column about Palin so there ya go

my mom is a wacky liberal cultist tho

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 11 September 2008 18:33 (sixteen years ago)

I think my mom was feeling pro-McCain/Palin right after the nomination, but I don't know if she's learned more since that would change her mind. Sometimes I'm really amazed that two literate, connected people with internet and cable and educations and OPTIONS are so uninformed. It's not that they're stupid, it's just that they don't know anything.

I just heard the most revealing story about Sarah Palin, told by a Republican
operative who thought it showed her great character. As you may know, she chose
NOT to abort her youngest baby (now 4 months old) when she found out it had
Downs. Here's the story

She was flown down to give a speech at a Republican energy conference in Texas
this Spring. Before the meeting she approached one of the organizers and said
she needed to fly back right after the meeting. She gave her speech, then flew
back. They found out later that she realized she was going into premature labor.

Now, let me just ask you, if you thought you were going into premature labor
(the baby was months early) and you really cared about that baby, would you give
a speech and then fly all the way to Alaska or would you, perhaps, find the
nearest hospital? And, furthermore, should anyone (male or female) with a 4
month old, special needs baby, be on the road campaigning 24-7?

Sarah Barracuda (her high school nickname) indeed!

Love,
Mom
