Referring to this ILM thread........what defines a "girl car", what's wrong with a girl car?.......what is the ultimate girl car?.....talk about girl cars.

Shit I'll dog out a Miata any day of the week.

Ramosi, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There's a lot wrong with a white Suzuki Samurai but it's hard to verbalize.... I can't explain it..

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You are afraid of your feminine side, you are. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Volkswagens... Fox, Jetta, the new Beetle... right smack in the furry patch, a White Cabriolet.

Benjamin, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i know what a girl car is supposed to be - minis, the new VW beetle, but what a girl car is is another story. my old boss, a woman, drove a '65 Ford Fairlane - one fkn massive car. i used to drive a triumph, and they are much bigger than they look. supposedly, the bigger the car, the more of a phallic symbol it is. i'm still hanging out for a hillman superminx. ahh, sweet mobile, you will be mine.

di, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Samurais are always turqouise or some terrible pastel. They look like something Barbie would drive on the beach.

bnw, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

FIAT PUNTO.

michael bourke, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Word, Samurai's are strange beasts.....they look like they're assembled in 20 minutes out of plywood......and yes they have the tackiest colors.......which reminds me, I saw this bogus Type-R at the theatres last week....bogus paintjob too, you could see the teardrops under the rear spoiler.....I contemplated waiting around so I could get a look at the driver (I like taking bets with myself as to the appearance of people who do corny things.....it's like the porn ESP thing.....anthony, I am still working on you).

Ramosi, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That was slightly vague.......people I do the porn ESP thing on are not corny.....people with fake TypeR Integras are corny......im saying, porn ESP and corny action=>corny face guesswork are equally beloved pastimes of mine.

Ramosi, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Benjamin has correctly identified the girliest car ever made - the VW Cabriolet

Ron, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"g!rl!e c4r" in excelsis apparently = Mazda MX5, FWIW. I once drove "manly" car IE old land rov0r, and after 1/2hr was so terrified that my legs shook when I got out & I nearly phell on the ground. IS a Maseraty 3200gt a "girlie" car? I'd like one ov those please

Norman Phay, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well Ron, first off your post in the Home Truths thread was excellent.....I didn't know you could throw down, I thought you were more casual......respect......second, in that original ILM thread I mentioned the VW cab but it was black........yo, I'll be straight, the reason I'm giddily going on about this girl car shit in the first place is because a 95'-98' black VW Golf is what Tara drives......that dorky cute chick with far too many torso freckles I was talking about last week.....thanks to Ned geeta and mitch for the words of encouragement.....well on Sunday she said yeah and we made out in her car (I forgot what music was on)......I been lighter than air yesterday......I hope to tap that ass this weekend......check her calves, they're sort of big and really pasty, the opposite of conventionally sexy.....but they get me hard off.....and I've seen enough porn in my life to know that pasty chicks with mad freckles have coochies that are red like fire truck.....a thrilling contrast.....Ramosi is quite content and full of hope.

Ramosi, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Let's not forget Del Sol's.....though not exclusively girly (they are too kit-able for guys to avoid), mad fine hoes drive them.

Girls that drive: Boxsters, Land Cruisers, and ML320's.....all need to get pissed and shitted on....and I mean that in a bad way.

Pet peeve: rich chinese girls that drive a 7-series BMW......all that potential.

Ramosi, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ducklingmonster, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Accord with the boom system that the albino girl in GUMMO drives......if you don't understand the genius of that scene, you probably don't understand me.

Ramosi, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ramosi - so often when you really get going some golden nugget pops out! I will now add 'coochies that are red like fire truck' to my list of fave Ramosisms. Alongside that old crowd-pleaser 'beast out on that twig themselves, what!' thanks, btw

Yeah, I'll second that. Man's a god -- he and Hanle y should do that damn collaboration, you know it would rule.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 16 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's got a name like "Kia"...for some reason, i can't trust a car with that name...it just sounds sketchy somehow, you know?

oh man on the news just now: they're gonna recall like 3 different kinds of jeep suburban assault vehicles because um the engines are catching on fire...no joke...

geeta, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the ultimate girlie car though= the SMART CAR!!! they rule!!

they just gotta make them legal in the states! no one here would take them seriously though. like "whaddaya mean it gets good mileage? that ain't GM! i like the security of being able to drive my house around with me!" etc. one of my housemates has an ancient chevy silverado pickup truck, and he wants to get a smart car to keep in the back of the truck -- that way it's like the smart car has ITS OWN PARKING SPACE all the time, and then he was gonna rig up a remote control to the smart car so he could DEPLOY it AT WILL from the truck!!

ph34r!!!

geeta, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

this isn't related, i'm really sorry, but the other day i saw a van with the licence plate MUTANT. I stared at the people. It was a man and a couple of kids. I couldn't tell much about them (like in what way if any they were mutant) but they stared back at me for staring at them but what the hell did they expect with that plate

elizabeth anne marjorie, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah & today i saw 1 that said MR HO. do you think he is a actual prostitute, or just Chinese?

, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My car is cheap and girly (white ford laser) but I love it anyway (of course). It goes! And I can fit all I posess into it, now that I've got rid of most of my furniture.

isadora, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hey, you in chch now? how was the drive up? did you stop in oamarude?

di, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The MX-5 may be the car most commonly called "Girly", but it's also a hell of a blast to drive, which very few "Girly cars" -- with the possible exception of the Mini -- are.

Colin Meeder, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

di (if yr talkin to me, i assume you are) - no i'm not in chch, i'm in roslyn.

, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I just want a car. I've been called girly often enough for this to wash over me.

Mark C, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not only are there girl cars but there are categories of girl cars. Women in their thirties with 1980s hairstyles always seem to drive those first-generation Nissan Micras which have black-at-the-top and silver-at-the-bottom paintjobs.

MarkH, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what defines a "girl car"... the girl driving it of course! one of my favorite people in the whole world, Sarah Press, (Sarah is you've googled this right now EMAIL ME at this address) showed up at my house with her best friend, en route from Massachusetts to California... they were driving a metallic brown Camaro with L7 and Guns n Roses stickers on the back... can I get a witness!!

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

duane i was talking to issadora.

di, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Cabriolet is the ultimate girl car. Can't go any further than that. I had no idea that Miatas were considered girl cars, though! (I think this is because I've only seen middle-aged men driving them.)

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh i didnt even know she was from DN, i dont know her. OK.

, Wednesday, 17 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

aaron klipstein, Sunday, 9 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

four years pass...
If you wanna try a Jetta before you buy one, you can always
lease one to try them out, thats what I did. You also get to drive a brand new one for a fraction of the cost of buying one.

oh my, my gf and i were talking about this subject after seeing a pranged metallic-yellow convertible on the road yesterday. i said "he must be so annoyed" referring to the driver and she said it was a girl's car and the driver would have been a woman.
