(starring Kris Kristofferson) - yeah me & JQ just watched this movie & we both agreed THEY DON'T MAKE 'EM LIKE THAT ANY MORE & that is too fuckin damn bad. SO MANY cop cars get trashed! that's the whole pt. & msg. of the movie, FUCK THE PO-LICE, & there was a whole bunch of similar ones too back then where the cops get thwarted & flipped the fuck off & their cars trashed & they're left cursing in the dust & all they can do about it is throw their stupid hats on the ground & stomp on em yay!

so why not any more? why no FUCK THE STUPID COPS movies in our brave new futuristic world? & also, will the internet ever be as kool as CB radio? ha ha will it FUCK.

Convoy is a cool flick. I can only hope there will be an equivalent to Sam Peckinpah in future American cinema. Not likely though in today's Hollywood. Back in that golden age, we had badasses who were great actors. Now Hollywood's a bunch of pussies.

Robert Mitchum,Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin, James Coburn, Clint Eastwood, Harry Dean Stanton, Kris Kristofferson, and the greatest supporting actor of all time, Warren Oates. Some were ex-Marines, one even a Rhodes scholar/helicopter pilot who wrote some of the best country tunes ever. Now, those were actors.

It's a religious film innit?

Tom, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

First time I saw it was at the local Catholic yoof club when I was a teenager - so Tom is OTM!

I watched my copy of 'Straw Dogs' a week or so ago after someone mentioned it in a thread - now that is one TERRIBLE Peckinpah flick.

Convoy is a modern day retelling of the Christ myth (down to the resurrection). K(h)ris(t) K(h)rist - offerson leading men. Ally Sheedy is his Mary Magdelene - that police officer is Judas. The CB radio is a metaphor for prayer.

Check it out Convoy has six letters so does Christ.

Thanks, e.s.o.j. I shall have to remember "& # 9835"

I loved Convoy! when it came out. And the single. And the spoof single featuring Brummies and an animal trapeze act ("Ooh look, a bear in the air"). Hey, I was 12, alright?

Serious answer to doorag's question poss. to follow.

Jeff W, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Ally Sheedy was possibly 12 also when Convoy! was made, which makes Ptee's theory even MORE interesting)

Jeff W, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I always get my Ally's mixed up.
