Maybe I deserved the doomparody on the Summarise Me thread because I did impersonate him myself, but it did get me thinking.
Many of us think of this as a safe place with a group of friends where we can spill our deepest secrets, darkest thoughts, and silliest moments. I don't want to see that atmosphere disappear in bitterness, sniping and nastiness.
Thoughts, impressions, comments?

I ALREADY think it's all full of bitterness, sniping and nastiness. But so, I suppose, are lots of other things in life.

I still think most of the people here are friendly; it could have been lurkers or someone with an axe to grind that posted most of the reprehensible stuff, so I wouldn't take it too seriously. It does trouble me that some of the more bitter/jealous parody stuff was directed at Kate and Suzy. It could be coincidental, but somehow I doubt it.

PS. My parodies were all meant in light humour. Please do not take it bitterly. The world is 'ard enough. I have love for everyone! PS. That was me Nicole.
See ya later.
I never hated anyone on here. It was a fascinating time. Sorry for being such a c*nt to everyone on this board. Obviously, I enjoyed it or else I would not have spent so much time on here!!!!
: - )
(PS. I enjoyed the parodies of me)

Sorry, why doesn't someone call the Law Society of Canada and ask to speak to someone in charge. Tell them that someone in office is abusing email privileges and other users and let them take care of it from there. I don't think they'd like it very much if one of their lame temps was wasting so much time on the interweb. Or is this too bitchy?

if your husband runs down the street yelling "cunt" at someone, do you get upset when the person who is getting yelled at punches his sorry arse?
― junichiro, Saturday, 28 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
Which is why I suggested what has been copied upthread and am most decidedly not sorry I did so. My hope was that DP would realise he'd gone too far and lay off, thus leaving no need to investigate where HE worked and let them know what was happening on their time.
I'm with Kate on this one. ILE is a good forum. The only time it becomes a bad forum is down to one person who seems repulsed yet fascinated by all of us. Go figure. The rest of us may have our quibbles, but we make them up quickly because we have enough respect for others to be honest in our dealings with them.
And for the job, love, he does not need it now, I'm taking him on holiday in Japan for six months.
He is a good person.
doesn't this sound like a Sun headline?
I feel sorry for all of you.
I *liked* the half-malicious parodies of me: they weren't terribly precise, but someone was hitting on something for some of them. I think that thread was a *good* idea.

If he had not been personally abusive to a number of people on here, no one would have become angry or frightened, there would be no need for this conversation and we'd probably see him like you do, as an essentially nice person who gets worked up about the stuff he likes. But that didn't happen, did it?
His loss as much as it is ours.
Thank you for ruining this board for me. I won't be back, either, as I honestly don't believe that you will be able to leave us alone. Sorry to everyone, I've mostly enjoyed my time here, thanks to DG and to Tom for providing this forum. But I really have to go. Goodbye.

Kate's right, he will surely be back, sometime: but any sense of his reality diminishes him as a demon, and look, he's begun to swap his weapons (mocking maddening facelessness) for ours (leading with his vulnerability). He's frightened of — and drawn to and razzed by — ILE's achievement of not-purely-virtual intimacy. I think this slightly rancid taste is what victory feels like.

By the way, I *still* do not really understand what roXor (?) means.
― duane, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
I have never used :) or :—)
roXoR = rocks; as in that rrrrroXoR!! cf also suXoR, than by analogy (not always well-formed) to other 'cks' substit'n. BUT punXoR just means punk.

I like everybody who posts regularly on ILE, and I like all the ones I've met in real life too. I'd be sorry to see any of them stop posting. That said even the most prolific posters need a holiday sometimes to restore perspective a bit.

That's what I mean - it's not something that you should let bother you. You guys don't know any of us. I don't know any of you, besides a handful of people. Don't let what someone says bother you to the point where you have to dramatically leave the board because you can't take it. Just ignore them. Easier said than done for some people but it is doable.

I'm pleased Mrs Doomintroll can stand up for his human side: I'm pleased there's someone in his life who seems on swift acquaintance able to be wiser and less emotionally reckless and self-centred than he is. I rode him as hard than anyone

The thought of the Pinefox calling anyone a fucker is all kinds of weird. Yet there he is, doing just that. How odd.

i get the impression Kate led a pretty painful existence on ilx for her whole duration, for whatever reasons. I guess it was for the best that she left.
