PETER BAGGE, whose Spanish-language edition of HATE (ODIO in Spanish) is one of the country's best-selling comic books, was a guest of honor last month at the 7th annual Granada International Comics Festival in the Southern city of Spain. Little did he know that the privilege would include being tied up on a stage while two porn stars humped like crazy five feet away from him and an Osama Bin Laden lookalike burned photos of the Virgin Mary and McDonald's. Oh, and did we mention the Al Qaeda terrorists that stormed the theater with guns blazing, killed a mime, blew up a podium that looked like the World Trade Towers, and then performed a song and dance routine to the country's #1 pop song with a bunch of go-go dancers? Oh, they gave out some awards, too (Bagge was named 'Best Foreign Artist'). Needless to say, this was not the Eisner Awards. For the full report, check out the next issue of THE COMICS JOURNAL, #243.

Even better, put out the DVD with extra features. That's worth $19.95.
