ROBERT BLAKE: This Year's Junk News Model

I thought that the Junk News Story of the Year was gonna be Jayson Williams. I apparently was wrong -- this year's OJ is gonna be Robert Blake. Just like Gary Condit last year, and Joey Buttafuoco, Tonya Harding, and Jon-Benet Ramsey in years past.

The media just can't ween itself from these sorts of stories, no more than little kids can't get enough candy.

I think it's a little easy to blame the media for this stuff. I mean if nobody cared or didn't pay attention or nothing was going on the media wouldn't report on this (this story disappeared for a good five or six months didn't it). Worth noting that this was a tiny blurb on the front page in the Chronicle (a page 8 or something story). I'm guessing that the months of delays before arresting Blake is gonna diffuse the media attention on this case.

c'mon Tad it's a great story! i mean it's a HORRIBLE story but the sleb/reality slippage is far too fascinating. "Screen Tough in Wife Slay" - surely there's a been a film with this premise? *racks brain*
