really still would like to vote yglesias

goole, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:17 (seventeen years ago)

Now if some kind soul would please photoshop all those into one big single ridiculous picture that would be great, I'll delete all my posts and put yours on top.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:17 (seventeen years ago)

Yo I ALMOST put in a NO VOTES FOR YGLESIAS SORRY disclaimer

TOMBOT, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:17 (seventeen years ago)

I just realized they would make a great cast for an adult swim show

TOMBOT, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:18 (seventeen years ago)

I'm torn between Goldberg (for Jewcy, mostly) and Sullivan.

Mordy, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:19 (seventeen years ago)

they're a pretty good group!

mcardle mostly excepted. and douthat too. and ambinder, his thing is more like a twitter than a blog.

but i'm entertained by sullivan and coates, fallows is otm often enough and goldberg sometimes annoys me and sometimes seems like the smartest voice around on the israel clusterfuck.

so i don't know.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:25 (seventeen years ago)

I read Sully the most just cos he posts at a ridiculous clip, Coates is a good read and I feel like he's the most ilxy of the bunch. prolly cos he talks about (mostly old man) rap music. But I think I get the most out of Fallows. Batting average of so-necessary postings is highest for me there. Is marc ambinder perpetua's kin or something, blog is mostly bullshit sessions, like an exercise in flaunting his talking-to-important-folks cred.

al gore rhythm nation (m bison), Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:26 (seventeen years ago)

McArdle is AWWWWWWW FULLLLLL. She is DIRE.
Ned OTM on the sullivan thread that this is going to be coates in a walk.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:29 (seventeen years ago)

sullivan: lulz, decent prose, internet memes that are 6 mo old
douthat: ah he's all right. bit longwinded. wish they'd given the job to reihan salam.
mcardle: used to read her. it was either econ posts i skipped or libertarian stuff i didn't like.
ambinder: this man is an insane machine.
coates: picked up the shitty spelling baton from yglesias, ok all around, post where he explained what "sonned" means was gold, d&d nerd, but points off for liking tv on the radio.
fallows: awesome during the olympics
goldberg: don't read him
crook: him either
wallraff: who?

goole, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:30 (seventeen years ago)

Douthat's been the Obama of conservative bloggers: unruffled, reasonable, faintly bored by the drama. But Sully's distemper, surrender to id, and unpredictability have made him a favorite of mine since 2001. Totally batshit and often wrong, he's what I want from a blogger.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

mcardle's "coastal elites" schtick killed me. it's like bitch I can use GABBNEB to prove your sweeping generalizations all kinds of wrong. LAZY.
douthat I never get anything from, so he kind of gets a pass. Ditto Crook. Fallows is uniformly good and I hope he gets a few votes.
Sullivan and Ambinder both just throw everything at the wall and hope a few things stick, which is kind of what blogging is turning out to be all about, but it also makes you look like a dumb kid hopped up on Fun Dip.
Wallraff is Ms. Language Person, they just added her to the roster, dunno.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

McArdle is AWWWWWWW FULLLLLL. She is DIRE.

yes, i was going to vote for her but then i realized there was no "worst" in the title.

REIGN IN FUDGE (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

I actually really like calm-ish, distanced, and thoughtful....ie, Fallows is my favorite, and Douthat is good too. Sullivan is just a huge dumb ego case. Goldberg has a nice mellow sense of humor.

ryan, Thursday, 16 October 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

the lobbying has swayed me. fallows it is.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 16 October 2008 04:34 (seventeen years ago)

(fallows is the only one of these people that i ever read a book by, and it was an ok book, so i guess he gets points for that.)

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 16 October 2008 04:35 (seventeen years ago)

wallraff: who?

Word Court! Probably shouldn't be up against all the political bloggers.

jaymc, Thursday, 16 October 2008 04:44 (seventeen years ago)

Has anyone used the expression "a face for blogging" yet?

Tyrone Quattlebaum (Hurting 2), Thursday, 16 October 2008 04:46 (seventeen years ago)

yeargh @ ambinder looking like perpetua

joe 40oz (deej), Thursday, 16 October 2008 05:20 (seventeen years ago)

i have seen both ambinder and perpetua in person, they don't really look much alike. fwiw.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 16 October 2008 05:37 (seventeen years ago)

(it was accidental and incidental in both cases, i can't really explain)

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 16 October 2008 05:37 (seventeen years ago)

how long before ta-nehisi gets his own thread?

El Tomboto, Thursday, 16 October 2008 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

ok im just going to be honest here and vote for sullivan

joe the plumber (ice crӕm), Friday, 17 October 2008 00:03 (seventeen years ago)

Plus, Sullivan used to troll for anonymous sex and wrote intelligently at book length about Montaigne. HE WINS.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 17 October 2008 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Most importantly, he used to post here as deeznuts

TOMBOT, Friday, 17 October 2008 05:02 (seventeen years ago)

I'm equally a huge fan of Sullivan and Fallows.

Eazy, Friday, 17 October 2008 05:16 (seventeen years ago)

Ned OTM on the sullivan thread that this is going to be coates in a walk.

Further proof of my assertion -- his last three posts in order:

'They Are Who We Thought They Were -- Again'

'And Now Let Us Praise Great Comic Books'

'And Now Let Us Dis Whack Football Teams'

Ned Raggett, Friday, 17 October 2008 16:44 (seventeen years ago)

haha ta-nehisi linking to the corner

max, Friday, 17 October 2008 16:53 (seventeen years ago)

oh wtf fallows is a GTD cultist AAAAAAGH

El Tomboto, Monday, 20 October 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)

how long before ta-nehisi gets his own thread?

TOMBOT, Friday, 24 October 2008 06:16 (seventeen years ago)

the increasingly execrable goldberg lays praise on a "real journalist" for having the incredible guts to say THIS:

Munich, Germany: Blogger Glenn Greenwald has something to tell you. Mr. Pearlstein, would you like to publish your recent comments on Paulson's bail-out policy one right after the other, without omitting one --- allowing the reader to be amazed about all your blatant contradictions?

Will you have the guts to face the Greenwald challenge?

Steven Pearlstein: This is pretty indicative of the bloggers view of the world. They write about what other people write about. And the mainstream media writes about what's going on in the world.

If you or anyone else wants to compare and contrast and come up with some conclusion about the consistency of my columns, go right ahead. And if you decide I'm not someone you want to read, then don't read it. It's a free country and, at this point, the content is free as well. As for me, I'm focused on my readers and the economic crisis before us, not getting sucked into the shouting match of the blogosphere.

the majority of the roster seems to just be actively trying to drag down coates and fallows by association at this point.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 1 November 2008 06:04 (seventeen years ago)

mccardle continues to be all but unreadable in her insulting dimness while douthat has crawled up his own ass trying to pretend the palin movement hasn't taken over his gang.

El Tomboto, Saturday, 1 November 2008 06:06 (seventeen years ago)

and yglesias (RET.) shows us why replacing him with ta-nehisi was a net plus for basically everybody on the internet with this gem about reagan's former chief of staff announcing his support for the only candidate in this race who isn't trying to win by the two minutes hate

Realistically, at some point the Republicans are going to come back into power and I’d prefer that to be a less-crazy version of the GOP. That’s going to require less-crazy people, people like Duberstein, to exert some influence and have some credibility.

"realistically, the cowboys are going to win another super bowl, and I'd rather they did it with good players on the team than with a bunch of dudes from the lions practice squad"

El Tomboto, Saturday, 1 November 2008 06:15 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Friday, 14 November 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

I have stopped reading all of these people since this weekend

TOMBOT, Friday, 14 November 2008 03:20 (seventeen years ago)

any particular reason

BIG HOOS' macaroni is off the motherfucking chain (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Friday, 14 November 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

obama won

TOMBOT, Friday, 14 November 2008 04:18 (seventeen years ago)

So you're just reading Drudge now.

I like Coates. Been reading him since he wrote for the Washington City Paper back in the '90s

curmudgeon, Friday, 14 November 2008 05:30 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:01 (seventeen years ago)

predictably lame

TOMBOT, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:10 (seventeen years ago)

who in the hell voted for goldberg

TOMBOT, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:11 (seventeen years ago)

Sullivan is an idiot.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

a very entertaining one

sofa king (deej), Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe. I find his blog a bit dull the times I've read it. He's not a very good writer and his ideas are really poorly thought-out.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:28 (seventeen years ago)

Why the hell did Coates not win this.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:41 (seventeen years ago)

same reason ILM polls always wind up basically reflecting album sales

TOMBOT, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:42 (seventeen years ago)

Hmm, true.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 November 2008 00:43 (seventeen years ago)

I explained above why I voted for Goldberg. Can't explain the other 3 votes tho

Mordy, Saturday, 15 November 2008 22:53 (seventeen years ago)

alex, deej, see "fun dip" comment above

TOMBOT, Saturday, 15 November 2008 22:56 (seventeen years ago)
