Jellied Eels - classic or dud

one of my friends ordered jellied eels the other day. The servitron looked at him with an "Are you mad?" look on her face. When he was presented with said fish he took one bite and then all colour drained from his face and he came close to vomitiing.

Is this a typical experience?

jellied eels = OK: i had them once at a friend's wedding (her dad is mad for them ,and basically centred the wedding-party catering round a vast table groaning with plates of them) => eel is fishy and muddy tasting, the jelly tastes mostly of the eels, and the main problem for me was the usual fish sticking point viz more bone than flesh

Beware beware of the star shaped, very big eel bone. Eels have a lovely - if not quite delicate taste which is magically coupled with green lickah. I like lots but running through my brane note that I have not had JE for about 3 years. Urgent and Key.

haha who will make an Estuary remake of TREMORS? (they have big bones = they swim through the Living Arth)

[now showing on all threads]

I would refer the honourable laydeez & gents of ILE to the fact that Pete is renowned for eating absolutely anything and therefore is so undiscriminating that his opinions on foodstuffs are meaningless.

Jellied Eels don't exist!

I like the slurping noise when they come out of the big tub. Wouldn't eat it, unless paid at least 10 pounds. Used to get a lot of customers on the fish counter who asked for just jelly, and not too much eel. Freaks. Did smell quite nice, but I don't trust eating things that have lived mainly underwater. Strange things happen underwater.

can you spread your jellied eels on some crisps if they are mostly jellied or is that just right out of there?
