Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon will receive an upgrade from Samuel L. Jackson and Wu-Tang Clan rapper/producer RZA. Jackson is preparing to star in a remake of the 1985 cult classic as “Sho'nuff, the Shogun of Harlem,” a role played by the late Julius Carry in the original film. Released in March 1985, the original version of The Last Dragon starred Taimak as Leroy Green, a martial arts student and avid fan of legendary martial artist Bruce Lee. Although critics panned The Last Dragon, it went on to gross nearly $26 million at the box office and has become a cult classic among movie watchers. While Jackson appears in front of the camera and will write the screenplay for The Last Dragon, the RZA will work behind the scenes as a co-producer on the Columbia Pictures remake with Dallas Jackson, John Davis of Davis Entertainment and Berry Gordy's son Kerry Gordy.

Rihanna's Got The Glow In The Last Dragon Remake
"Umbrella" chanteuse Rihanna has reportedly nabbed the role as a roundhouse-kicking dominatrix, in the upcoming remake of the 1985 R&B martial arts fantasy The Last Dragon.

Rihanna's character wasn't in the original film, but it's nice to see some star power attached to the project. The Last Dragon is one of those select 1980s movie that indistinguishably oscillates between "awesomely bad" and "awesomely awesome." You seriously cannot tell. You'll laugh at The Last Dragon, but you won't be sure whether you're laughing from ironic amusement or because you have Stendhal Syndrome and have been driven mad by the film's sheer aesthetic profundity.

gotta ask tho, why was Leroy calling his parents "mama-san" and "papa-san" when that suffix is Japanese and he was studying kung fu which is Chinese? and why would a "kung fu master" be so heavily influenced by Japan, for the same reason (Sho'nuff)?

I mean I didn't care, it was a blast....just confused me.
