OBAMA'S ILLEGAL AUNT SHALL DELIVER ELECTION TO MCCAIN

Display Name (Batty), Sunday, 2 November 2008 00:05 (seventeen years ago)

Obama winning GA is one of several plausible outcomes that could lead to me actually crying election night.

Casuistry, Sunday, 2 November 2008 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

Weeping, sobbing, etc.
I think I'll be crying at, like, every outcome.

kate78, Sunday, 2 November 2008 00:18 (seventeen years ago)

I will praise blame and what.

"John Kerry dissed me, I'm trippin!" (Nicole), Sunday, 2 November 2008 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

I really really want this to happennnnnnnnnn

Barack Hussein Obama has already gotten my vote!

ban or astroban? (Curt1s Stephens), Sunday, 2 November 2008 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

I'll say yes, what the heck. My brother and parents voted for O. My parents say that even in Cobb County lines for voting have been horrendously long. I have a friend from hs who is voting McCain but he's a more typical East Cobb kid, the sort you'd expect to go Republican.

Euler, Sunday, 2 November 2008 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

I'm more concerned about Jim Martin winning GA Senate seat though, because Obama doesn't need GA to win. (and if Chambliss is out then hopefully the fairtax will be a dead issue to my mother)

ban or astroban? (Curt1s Stephens), Sunday, 2 November 2008 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

oh geez, people. Of course he won't win Georgia. Negroes burned down Atlanta, never forget, eagle tear.

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Sunday, 2 November 2008 20:10 (seventeen years ago)

J0hn D., Sunday, 2 November 2008 23:52 (seventeen years ago)

i read that new yorker pieces a few days back. i don't want to suggest that people's core beliefs and politics can't evolve; mine certainly have, to a degree. but back in may when i heard bob fucking barr was the libertarians' candidate it was some serious o_O

Wow K, did you *intend* to insult at least half a doz ILXors in one fell swoop there? Classy work.

Trayce, Monday, 3 November 2008 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

Ok, jd. Agreed. I have to remember that my feelings toward the american south are tainted by my own family and experience, and that while they may be representative of big scary pockets of racial bile, they are not representative of the entire american south. I apologize to ilxors I may have offended, sincerely.

This made me feel very happy and optimistic.

another regrettable cheesesteak (Jesse), Monday, 3 November 2008 06:51 (seventeen years ago)

jesse, I hug you from afar, but that makes you happy and optimistic?

This was funny to me. Interviewer: "You don't look like the kind of guy that would ordinarily support Barack Obama." Interviewee: "It's not a matter of race." Uh... we didn't ask that, but thanks.

Happy and optimistic, I will not try to take away from you, but this makes me want to eat a gun barrel.

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Monday, 3 November 2008 07:24 (seventeen years ago)

Can't speak for Jesse, but what makes *me* happy and optimistic after viewing that clip is that it suggests that some people are starting to see through the smokescreen of irrelevant semiotic/demographic warfare that the G.O.P. uses to get rural whites to vote against their own class interests.

i fuck mathematics, Monday, 3 November 2008 07:32 (seventeen years ago)

no, i know. I just keep wishing these people didn't exist in the first place, which is surely not very constructive.

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Monday, 3 November 2008 07:33 (seventeen years ago)

xp: Not only that, but he's trying to convince his friends of the same, and while he may or may not get through to him, damn, what if he does? And there are probably tens of thousands of dudes like him across the country, who may not be completely enlightened on race and politics, but are making steps in the right direction.

"JOE THE PLUMBER, I'LL WHUP YOUR ASS" (The Reverend), Monday, 3 November 2008 07:53 (seventeen years ago)

i cant believe a fuckin newspaper headline actually refers to someone as a redneck as if that means something concrete here

deej, Monday, 3 November 2008 08:01 (seventeen years ago)

sorry but that piece was stupid - and there are plenty of tattooed macho country dudes who are cool with obama

deej, Monday, 3 November 2008 08:02 (seventeen years ago)

it's a bbc headline though, and i have no reading on what that means in the uk

Mozarella sticks. Think about it. (kenan), Monday, 3 November 2008 08:11 (seventeen years ago)

I am still aglow. It's pieces like this that keep me from saying "Fuck the South." There's nothing wrong with being a redneck, having an accent, and being countrified, but too often that goes hand-in-hand with being hateful, willfully ignorant, and racist. This guy dared to use his brain.
