racist stepmother = 1 texan for mccain

mookieproof, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

Don't know, but I'm pretty sure: McCain, McCain, McCain, Obama, No vote. Extended family: McCain^x. Me: Obama.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

sis & bro-in-law for Obama -- and I think Mom too (older than McCain, recent Rachel Maddow convert); all in Connecticut

everyone else (cept cousins) is dead, so I assume they've moved to Cook County to vote.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

Only one member of my family is even legally allowed to vote, and that's my sister in law. Considering she whacks my brother on the nose with a rolled up newspaper every time he says something even remotely Republican, I don't think I need to ask how she voted!

post-apocalyptic time jazz (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

Everyone voted for Obama except for the ones with felony convictions and/or foreign citizenship.

☑ (Pleasant Plains), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 17:59 (seventeen years ago)

dad - mccain
mom - likely mccain
sister - mccain
bro-in-law - mccain

all aunts & uncles & living grandparents - definitely mccain,
except for lol liberal college profs aunt & uncle.
cousins on both sides likely split down the middle.

flyover statesman (will), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:01 (seventeen years ago)

All Obama. They always vote Dem except for my crazy aunt who voted for Perot that time.

dad = mccain
stepmom = mccain
mom = obama
mom-in-law = mccain
sis-in-law = mccain
dad-in-law = mccain, if he voted, which he doesn't
racist grandma-in-law = obama! thinks palin is an idiot and mccain is unstable

visiting these people in NJ over the weekend got me depressed about obama's chances but the last one gave me hope

Edward III, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:09 (seventeen years ago)

parents: obama. i don't talk to any other family members, really, but i assume that my aunt and uncle went for obama, as did my normal cousin. i assume that my jew-for-jesus cousin is mccain all the way.

lauren, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

Mom, Dad, grandmother, all my cousins and great-aunts and -uncles: McCain. I dunno about my sis and bro in law.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:11 (seventeen years ago)

Same here, except POSSIBLY my sister and bro-in-law's kids might be secret Obama supporters. I strongly doubt it though.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:11 (seventeen years ago)

mother - McCain

"Obama is too liberal. He voted against the war."

Gukbe, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

My family are all reliable Obama voters, no matter on which side or how far out you travel.

Aimless, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

Mom said she was going to vote at the Methodist church which is our polling station after she finishes work at 6. A lot of people in my family are at that vulnerable age where the OMG I'm rich and the government wants my money hypnosis really takes hold.

Mom: McCain, finally, see threads passim.
Sister: probably McCain, she hates politics and does what is told to by mom.
BIL: McCain. I never had a snowball's hope for him, his dad was a Michigan Militia wannabe.
Uncle 1: lifelong Dem so you'd think Obama, but I'm not sure.
Uncle 2 and aunt: are in FL. Probably McCain.
Female cousin: still has Wellstone poster in her porch, so Obama FTW - she has raised over 6k for him and maxed out her own contribution.
Male cousin: Obama. If not, the vicissitudes of our relationship dictate that I'm allowed to call him a jealous guy.

Drinking Points Memo (suzy), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:43 (seventeen years ago)

There's no-one in my family that would ever vote Republican.

Michael White, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:45 (seventeen years ago)

At least a dozen relatives in both Maryland and Delaware, most (maybe all) of whom are voting Obama, plus one in Wisconsin also for Obama. And a a few aunts/uncles in Florida that I think are all leaning McCain.

some dude, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 18:46 (seventeen years ago)

I have a plethora of second cousins in America who are all staunch Obamaites as far as I know, which is useful as they're mostly in Pennsylvania.

Good luck USA! (ENBB), Tuesday, 4 November 2008 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

ilxor LXY says that this is the first time ever that her whole family voted the same way. 3 UT for obama, 2 FL for obama, 3 WA for obama. pretty awesome.

My mom's side of the family is HUGE and probably like 90% democrats (seriously, my mom's family probably single-handedly put the F in DFL).

My dad's people are all republicans (Rochester based), but luckily there's only a few of them

All my in-laws and close friends are solid for Obama

Dan I., Tuesday, 4 November 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

Obama across the board + probably mostly Dems/Greens in the other races

I'm hoping my parents voted yes on Michigan Proposition 1

Dad and brother - O

my wife, sister and even my pro-business brother all went for the O. parents-in-law too and my late parents (moderate republicans) would've.

every but my brother in law who shockingly seems to have joined the "he's a muslim" crowd. really disappointed w/him.

I called my dad last night, and he was just launching into a "well, the first time I met Obama was maybe around 2002" story when McCain started speaking and we both hopped off the phone.

nabisco, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

So now I have to call my dad and ask him to tell me a long story about something.

nabisco, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 19:23 (seventeen years ago)

nabisco did your dad use binoculars to spy on obama?

mookieproof, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

My woolen sweater wearing sister voted Obama. Mama probably Obama. Everyone else McCain I'm sure.

A Big Day in the North (wanko ergo sum), Wednesday, 5 November 2008 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

I guess he was seated next to him at some kind of Chicago State event, but I didn't get the rest of the story, or why the word "first" was deployed. I just hadn't ever talked about Obama with my dad before, and suddenly he was talking about him like he's known the guy since way back when.

nabisco, Wednesday, 5 November 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)

my mother said she voted obama. my dad probably voted mccain.
