You Dream ILE Poster

Who would you most like to post to ILE who hasn't done so yet?

(This apparently tiresome qn is blatantly an attempt to flush out/Tash out more celebrity journo lurkers, cf. Mick Farren's show-up on the otherwise very disappointing spanking thread)

Tom, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lloyd Cole.

the pinefox, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Henry Thomas (Elliot from E.T.) I found out yesterday he used to be subscribed to Sinister (the Belle & Sebastian list). Don't think he ever posted though.

Nicole Kidman

Nick, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The dwarf inside ET would be even better. I'm sure they have something interesting to say on the Pop Culture Hater's thread. And what smells make your cock twitch (latex I would imagine).

Pete, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That Henry Thomas B&S line is remarkable! Is it worth me asking why you would like to read stuff by him?

Idea of ET man posting on Pop Culture Hater's Thread: very funny.

the pinefox, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pinefox, obviously not. You know me.

Nick, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Henry Thomas (Elliot from E.T.) I found out yesterday he used to be subscribed to Sinister (the Belle & Sebastian list).
Lydia Lunch was on the Nick Cave mailing list apparently. And I know for a fact Jim O'Rourke was on the Sonic Youth list. I recognized his email address.
Dream poster: Tommy Lee (on porn vs erotica). Or Tom Barman.

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Alright, you've got me. Does anyone have a copy of Tigermilk on vinyl? I'll pay big.

P.S. Pinefox I love you.

That bastard kid from ET, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A friend of mine is on some private list that allegedly has Steve Albini, Gerard Cosloy (Matador honcho), Jim O'Rourke and Wharton Tiers. Nobody knows whether the story is true, but researchers have been tirelessly slaving away trying to discover any clues. That or trying to remember the last time any of them were involved with a record that wasn't horribly horribly mediocre.

And to answer the question, Scott Thompson.

Dave M., Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would never name a musician; as talented and witty as a lot of musicians are, I usually seem to be disappointed by how dull they come across in print. That's not to say that they look stupid -- most just don't stand out from any other poster with the vibrancy you'd expect from their music.

I would like to see someone with a worldview so bizarre and alien to my own that I would be simultaneously chuckling at their strangness and banging my head about their obtuseness at the same time. For this reason I nominate: Geir Hongro.

Remember, send the hatemail to this address and not my old hotmail one.

Nicole, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jim is probably trying to get Albini to produce... oops RECORD a Spice Girls LP full of IDM and then release it on Matador. I wonder what Wharton's gonna do.
Oh yeah, Stevie Nicks can post about her cocaine daze.

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

who (or what) is geir hongro?

gareth, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Isn't he that guy who only does Elvis covers?

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The real jel.

jel, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Actually! I'd like the comic book writer Joe Matt to post here, as he is an 'expert' on porn and masturbation, he's always on about it in his comics, he'd fit in well!!...

jel, Sunday, 29 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ralph wiggum

cabbage, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Farren appeared cuz I emailed him the Spanking URL. I really doubt there's many lurkers vs. posters here cuz, fuck, you'd be Johnny No-Life, King of Losers, to lurk here & NOT post. Chuck would be great on ILE (moreso than on ILM).

AP, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Also we're not on Google yet.

Tom, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ILM certainly is, though. It's a matter of time, I guess.

Journalists I'd like to see here who haven't posted yet: David Stubbs, Dele Fadele, Jonathan Freedland, Jonathan Glancey. Oh, and Tom Cox, so we could all gang up on him.

Robin Carmody, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why would ganging up on someone be enjoyable, unless it was provoked (ie doomintroll)?

Nicole, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Law of Tash of course decrees that we are now on Google. And indeed we are.

Tom, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Guardian Jonathan I'd like to see: Romney.

Nick, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Romney is indeed GRATE, Nick. Knows more about music / everything than Freedland or Glancey, though the above two would be great for "I Love Politics" and "I Love Architecture" respectively.

Coming up on Google tonight: "The Countryside: Classic or Dud?", "Countryside: Classic or Dud?", "Ebay: Cash Cow or Evil Bitch?" and many, many more.

What this means is more pages coming up when any of us google our names :).

Robin Carmody, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But... but... who is 'Kathy Jordan'?

the pinefox, Monday, 30 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Flo and Eddie.

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

duane, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i want jesus to post.

anthony, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jonathan Glancey knows a lot about prog rock. I think he's got a book coming out.

Nick, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, all I know about him is his writing on architecture which is GRATE.

Robin Carmody, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, yes. But - Kathy Jordan?

the pinefox, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

After going to Joe Rogan's website, I REALLY want him to start posting here. Anyone with such a right-minded take on running with the bulls in Pamplona is a Great Person.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My serious answer is, my sister, she lives in another town & I miss her & I bet she'd be real good on here, say lots of funny stuff & whatever. But, she is dumm about computers so I guess she won't be showing up really.

duane, Tuesday, 31 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oooh, I totally second Considine!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Thursday, 10 April 2003 01:20 (twenty-three years ago)

JD's a blast. He was very friendly to me back when he was on alt.music.alternative and was very patient with my questions on writing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 April 2003 01:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Taking Sides: Bret Easton Ellis vs. that kid from ET.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 10 April 2003 10:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan Coren and Robbie Williams

C J (C J), Thursday, 10 April 2003 10:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi ILX!

Being "where the rainbows are" --classic or dud?

Mariah Carey (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 10 April 2003 10:22 (twenty-three years ago)

How queer. Despite having been the first poster to this thread, when I saw it today I thought it was maybe a new thread, in which people described the components of their ideal ilx poster; and I thought the Nipper was probably involved somewhere.

the pinefox, Thursday, 10 April 2003 10:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I am going to say Joss Whedon, and that way he is sure to bes posting here by 2005.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 10 April 2003 11:06 (twenty-three years ago)

If you say it thrice it will happen

RickyT (RickyT), Thursday, 10 April 2003 11:07 (twenty-three years ago)

My dream ILE poster would be half whale, half guitar player. He/she would have a fondness for Long Island Iced Teas and political sensibilities pitched somewhere between Gandhi and Jello Biafra. And a love for kittens.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Thursday, 10 April 2003 11:08 (twenty-three years ago)

my dream ile poster = antiorp!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 10 April 2003 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Oops, sorry. Don't know how that happened.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 10 April 2003 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 April 2003 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I always loved the names of everyone in G'N'R, they were all like the names of the Seven Dwarves.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 10 April 2003 15:34 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, which is why sebastian will have to be just Seb, otherwise he won't fit in.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 10 April 2003 15:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe even Basti, I kind of like that as a name.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 10 April 2003 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Lars Ulrich, so we can make fun of him speeding up every time he posts.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Nah, he'd use his magickal superhero powers to get us all arrested every time we mentioned our recent SLSK downloads.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 10 April 2003 16:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Two categories: my old and fantastic friends such as (for those who know them) DD, GK, MH, FJ, NF, HS; and celebs - Jarvis Cocker, Eminem, Steven Wells, Robert Rauschenberg, Richard Rogers, Sally Phillips, Kelis, Steve Erickson, and loads more.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 10 April 2003 23:33 (twenty-three years ago)

that'd be okay--that was all that really bothered me about her.

Rayanne From My So Called Life

Blossom and Joey Lawrence

I agree.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 11 April 2003 10:14 (twenty-three years ago)

That's funny, that's like the only thing I liked about b3cky.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I want all the people on Trading Spaces to post. And, um... Mary Timony and Kim Gordon and Jon Stewart from the Daily Show and uh... yeah.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually, Mark E. Smith. His emails at least are really good.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 11 April 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Or so I'm told. David Attenborough! Nile Rodgers!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 11 April 2003 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)
