Music From Ads, specifically FANTA!

What's the music on the new Fanta ad? It's a cartoon ad with lots of jumping around and the odd bit of scratching here and there. But the music is this fantastic sort of hiphop beat with the most amazing loop over it. God I'm not buying Fanta but it's fantastic.

And what other ads had great music? Presuming this isn't a band, though it probably is, what ads have or have had great original music?

Ronan, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Where's the Cheese At?

The ques. was a setup for this joke, wasn't it?

Nicole, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't understand. I haven't seen that ad.

Where's Your Head At would work better for something medical or a TV licence or something. You could imagine being scared into action by "WHERE'S YOUR P45S AT, WHERE'S IT AT?, YOU HAVE NOW FOUND YOURSELF, LIABLE FOR A 500 POUND FINE".

Yep too much time on my hands today.

Ronan, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

FANTA is GRATE why aren't you buying it? New Icy Fanta Limon (ok LEMONGS) is gorgeous and the best thing with gin EVAH whereas Neu! Fanta Fruit Twist tastes like fuzzy Um Bongo! Yaaaay for Fanta! Not seen the ad though.

Sarah, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I loved the music for the 1 to 1 ad where the babies were digging holes on either side of the fence and then one of them went under the fence and joined the others to dig BIGGER holes. They played a long version of the tune on Xfm too but I stoopidly didn't take details of who, or what, it was.

Jonnie, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

where's the cheese at = momus pizza hut jingle

Nicole, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

was it fanta that used that remixed (Jean Jacques Perry?) EVA tune? now that's a CHOON!

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm pretty sure that One2One ad used a tune by Pilote, though no idea which one.

Archel, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

there was a Levi's ad running for a while where they were in a soap box derby going down this big hill and Doo Rag was playing the whole time. I talked to BobLog when we played with 'em and he said he made out alright on it.

Deadman, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i want to know this Fanta ad music too
it's not up yet on http://www.westwood.u-net.com/ads/ but hopefully someone will id it soon

michael, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i also want to know the music on the Ford Ka advert where people keep sitting down to admire the car and wearing a bottom-shaped dent in the concrete wall, if anyone recognises that

michael, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't think they sell Fanta in the States anymore, do they? I have only ever seen it recently at Mexican restaurants where they import the glass-bottle version. And what's a Ford Ka? Man, if Fanta is a funny name, Ka just beats all.

Sean, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no i have not seen fanta for a while but it may be lurking somewhere in the usa. I wanted to ask if people remember those shasta ads with the catchy jingle?

I wanna POP! (pop...pop...) I wanna.... SHASTA!!! I want to taste pizzaz! All that great taste SHASTA HAS!!! I wanna POP!!!

Ron, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ever heard popshopping?

mike hanle y, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What kinds of Fanta there are in UK/US?

Chupa-Cabras, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, Ron, I remember the jingle. I've never tasted the cola.

Sean, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What kinds of Fanta there are in UK/US?

Here in the UK we have Orange, Lemon (delicious, as Sarah says, but best served ice cold like it recommends on the label), plus a new variety 'Fruit Twist' which I haven't tried yet.

David, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i know ive heard the jean jaques perrey (sp?) in a visa or mastercard commercial

hey what about Faygo??

Ron, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I hate to agree with ICP on anything, but Faygo is the fucking bomb. Especially the Peach flavor...

Nicole, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i'm fairly sure it was a lucozade ad that had eva by jean-jacques perry in it... speaking of music in ads,i've never seen the guinness ad with the first big weekend by arab strap in it,whats it like? when i first heard about it i thought it was a joke, but it seems to exist (or have existed)...

robin, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fruit Twist...hhhmmmm. They are also releasing new in brasil, apple and citric but they taste almost the same

Chupa-Cabras, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yo Ronan:
Music from Fanta ad is Rae and Christian 'Blazin' the Crop'

michael, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wahey!

Thanks, I'll download. What a tune.

Ronan, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Taking sides - Still Fanta (as served in MacDonalds) vs. Fizzy Fanta.

Andrew L, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fizzy by a country mile.

Jonnie, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There is still Fanta now? Cor. Is it ordinary Fanta they've left to go flat or is it a whole new soft drink experience?

RickyT, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh Ronan - can you confirm that that's the right track? my soundcard isn't working at the moment so no MP3s for me. also there should be a 'g' on 'blazing' i think (in case you're having trouble finding it). it's from their 2nd album i think (1999?)

michael, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ricky - Still Fanta is a subtly different taste experience.

Andrew L, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I had thought that the U.S. equivalent of fanta was minute maid.

there are four varieties of fanta in the czech republic. maybe five. but I forget what they are.

richard john gillanders, Monday, 13 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Still Fanta would surely end up just being a modern recreation of Quosh ie 'orange squash'. I've just remembered those big transparent glass tanks full of the stuff they used to have in 'cafeterias', with a kind of paddle apparatus slowing churning round inside (keeping it 'fresh' I suppose). Original Fanta is of course the modern equivalent of Zing.

Thats a nice tune on fanta ad. Yes ive seen. The song is called Rae & Christian - Blazing The Crop.

Search it on HTTP://WWW.Audiogalaxy.com After getting the satalite so u can download it.

Yousuf Ali, Saturday, 8 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ronan - the tune for the Fanta ad is just wicked and I have been asking around for ages. So glad you had the initiative to find out - you've made me very happy - Thanks

Adam, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No problem, I will collect my MBE soon no doubt.

(can people stop mailing me about it, thanks )

Ronan, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That tune is one of loadsa genius tracks from rae & christian. Their latest album, Nocturnal Activity is amazin. There's a free promotion for them. Heres a few more: Drink Fanta (it keeps you going 34% longer than water - Lucozade who?) Eat Pedigree Chum (its clinically proven to improve your breath)

Will, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

WHY DONT THEY SELL FANTA ICY LEMON IN THE STATES!? they sell the crappy flavors like pineapple and grape(?), but not the archduke of soft drinks

I DEMAND SATISFACTION

well at least we have strawberry crush

bc, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

we have Vanilla Coke, at least. it's better than their last attempt at a new flavor ("i'll have a rum and lysol please... ahem, i mean diet coke with lemon")

Dave M., Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i like the music from the pepsi with lemon ad.... it's vocodered house that sounds like console or maybe even todd edwards. it's definitely original pepsi music because it says 'pepsi cola'

Has anyone found a recent link for that Rae 'n' Christian tune currently running for the Fanta ad, Blazing The Crop? Cheers.

You can listen to a bit of that tune at Groovetech.com http://www.groovetech.com/PhoenixData/GT/srvlt/GTController? action=InventoryDetail&page=detail_music.jsp&HTMLType=Detail&Inventory ID=18027

And buy the album for £8 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000056N6L/uktelevisionadve/2 02-4045446-7051816

And work out tunes from any adverts from: http://www.commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk/detail.asp?RecordingID=1292

Hope that helps.

John King, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jel --, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jel --, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nah, I'm thinking of that ad for Capital with the equally crappy animation.

jel --, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the one which loops the guitar from 'Everybody's Talkin''? with the animated Dr Fox plugging in some huge tower block sized speakers...?

michael, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree that the Lemon Fanta TV commercial currently being played on UK TV is awesome. The song featured on the advert is by Rae & Christian. They are a Hip Hop duo from Manchester England UK. The track is taken from their album Sleepwalking (Track 01) on grand central records.

The advert is produced by someone called Jeffery De Crecy and if someone has any info on this guys work, please lemme know.

FOAD, I've just arrived home from an animation festival and was very pleased to see that shown. Beautiful bit of work. You dont know shit.

I was just going to ask if anyone here feels like tracking down the company who does the Fanta ads, as they deserve even more laudation. Similar nippy editing and feel - probably another of those French studios doing awesome stuff at the moment.

Marinaorgan (Marina Organ), Thursday, 10 October 2002 23:40 (twenty-three years ago)

called Jeffery De Crecy .....

Aha! just spotted earlier post.... French independant animator, as suspected.
I've got a CD done by his brother (I think) which comes with an exquisite animated promo. Nice tune as well.

hello all, me again!

right, another song for questing,
it's off a "hugo" advert, which features the slogan
"your fragance, your rules"

it has quite a souly-funky trumpet playing, if that helps?!

thanks to ian for the java recommendation, highly satisfied with the song.

ta for now, will.

I want Fanta lemon in the united states. I should talk to Coke... I bet they know me because I am a Fanta Fanatic. I got a bad case of Fanta (it tasted like bitter metal crap), complained to Coke and I got 11 free 12packs of coke products. I also complained to Coke that they didn't sell Fanta where I lived and eventually it came here. But I want Fanta Lemon. Only Grape and Orange are good in my opionion, although many of my friends like Strawberry and Pineapple sounds gross. Berry I heard was gross too. I want lemon fanta. And apple fanta if they have it.
