Checking In, Checking Out: When You're Away from ILx

ILXers lead full and busy lives, and sometimes they can't post on the boards. Or, if you prefer, they drop off the planet. Or they get sick of the joint.

Anyway, I think that this is a good idea for a thread -- if you plan on being away from ILE/ILM, to check in and say so. Lest we start thinking that the chickenbears came to take you away (ha! ha!)

I hope I'm not overstepping, or stepping on the system admins' toes with this thread. If I am, I apologize because I don't mean to do so.

Soooooo, having said that ... where's Dave Popshots been lately? Or Ethan?

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

They're out to hunt you down for stepping on people's toes.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i usually look in every few days and post to threads i like which on ilm means not much ha ha.

ethan, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

why be shy when you can keep the canl;e out?

mike hanle y, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I drift in and out of here (and ILM, alt.sex.stories.d, rec.games.roguelike.misc, rec.games.computer.ultima.dragons, etc) as my moods change. So, if I haven't posted in a while, don't worry about me. I've told my husband to send a notice to all of the boards/fora that I post to if I die. (I'm being serious about this.)

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo, Friday, 26 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've been doing recreational fucking. I would just like to ask ILX admin for approval for more fucking trips between postings. It's good exercise. I find when posting I get 'economy class syndrome', sitting for hours in cramped positions.

In fact I would like a 'recreational fucking season pass', please. (I will also be asking the Greenspun Catholic forum for leave for similar excursions, stressing of course that no contraceptives will be used.)

Momus, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Just think of it as your own version of the local authority bus pass. Aren't you due one soon?

suzy, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And what have you been doing on your holidays?

Momus, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There's a thread idea: Fucking Vacations, trips taken specifically and exclusively to get away somewhere and fornicate. IE, you never leave your hotel room to do anything else and all food is provided by room service.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chris to thread!

N., Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And what have you been doing on your holidays?

Since this is me we're talking about, surely you mean who, not < I>what.

suzy, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

...but not learning bloody HTML properly in any case.

suzy, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Probably for the best; HTML books are a turnoff in bed.

Dan Perry, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Noting that the play and film of Dangerous Liaisons makes much of combining the activity of belles lettres with, well, activities with belles (if one is a straight male), it is not without the realm of possibility that a Bedroom Companion could also be a useful prop for one's iBook.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is this the part where we have the Latin terms? Shit, this is beyond my control...

suzy, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This thread is awful.

Bitsuh, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Now you know why I'm AWOL.

Daver, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have finals coming up, ILX typically sux, and: I've been doing recreational fucking. Momus is still a grade-A asshole! whee!

Dan I., Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Which isn't to say I haven't also been recreationally fucking. Har!

Dan I., Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

HOWLS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM!
He always redeems himself, the luvable lunk.

Dan I., Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

one year passes...
Dear ILX:

Please remember to water the plants. And I know it sounds silly but play them some music occasionally. Happy plants = happy home.

Also do not fight with your brother Carl. He has a short temper, so I'm expecting you to be the grown-up around here while I'm away.

Also it's very very important that you don't let your father in the house, even if he offers you Jelly Bellies and says he'll let you drive. He doesn't even have a car anymore.

I'll be back in a month or so. Just remember I love you very much! You're my special guy!

xxoxoxo Aunt Lois

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

no tracer! noooooooooooo!

James Blount (James Blount), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 16:29 (twenty-three years ago)

So? Who gives a fuck if Aunt Lois quits posting? All she ever does is post forwards she got in her email about angels and poems about Jesus and hints about removing stains from clothing. Good riddance.

NA. (Nick A.), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 16:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I should change the lyrics of Aeysha to Elisha in honor of Tracer's departure but I can't find them right now! Have fun, Tracer...

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris to thread!

-- N. (nickdastoo...), April 27th, 2002.

Seriously, this was months before I even started lurking at ILX. How did he know?

Chris P (Chris P), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Tracer's off to Sonar, the BASTARD. And yeah there's an easyEverything down the bottom of Las Ramblas.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Have a great trip, Tracer.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Rah for Tracer and his celebratory times. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:46 (twenty-three years ago)

We'll miss you!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 18:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you everybody!!

Auntie Lois (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 June 2003 15:24 (twenty-three years ago)
