I say the glass eye. Hook arms look silly now.

bryan, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yup.

Kris, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The hook eye is infinitely worse than either.

Michael Daddino, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Except there's nothing scary about a glass eye at all. And someone can't hurt you with it - well, short of extracting it and throwing it at you. A hook can hurt you without hardly trying.

Martin Skidmore, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

taking sides: sandy duncan vs. dustin hoffman.

Le Pen has a glass eye.

Momus, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Felix Leiter has a hook arm.

N., Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can easily imagine Le Pen taking out his glass eye and forcing little children to stare in the hole. (Didn't Murray Wilson used to do that to his kids?)

Michael Daddino, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh N., you Dastardly Wonderful British Secret Agent, you.

Love Felix

Fake, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Didn't Murray Wilson used to do that to his kids?

Sure did. Charming feller.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Glass arm = can't hit 2nd base.

Hunter, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A hook arm is scarier but a glass eye is more interesting. Jesus, it sickens me just thinking about taking it out of the socket and cleaning it. I've never met anyone with a glass eye, or a hook.

Lindsey B, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hey back in hawea my family had a friend with a hook arm. he's not very frightening, but he didn't really smell too good.

di, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hook arms --> captain hook --> pirates in general --> very sexy. i have nothing to say about the actual thread question.

Maria, Saturday, 27 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Someone brought up a glass arm (not at all scary), but try to imagine a Hook Eye - now that's scary!

Martin Skidmore, Sunday, 28 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Le Pen both eyes are glass, why u think he never takes the big glasses of? they are connected to his branes und gives him infra-red vision. Now thats scary. Robotique

My high school girlfriend had a high-tech prosthetic arm with a realistic looking hand. We once hid it in the freezer and asked my mother to get us some ice cubes. My mother screamed. Oh, how we larfed.

Colin Meeder, Monday, 29 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

sixteen years pass...

5,000-year-old prosthetic eye made from a mixture of natural tar and animal fat. This incredible object was found near the city of Zabol in Iran. The world's earliest prosthetic eye, which was once painted gold, was worn by an ancient priestess who stood 6’ tall. #goldeneye pic.twitter.com/BfvPznPPs6

Speaking of archaeology, this thread speaks volumes about the primitive culture of paleo-ilx.

himalayan mountain hole (bizarro gazzara), Tuesday, 16 October 2018 10:35 (seven years ago)

"In time of ancient gods, warlords and kings, a land in turmoil cried out for a hero. She was Xena, a monocled lady vicar forged in the heat of raffle tickets for the fete"

mark s, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 10:52 (seven years ago)

is this real? that twitter bio says "storyteller" in addition to "medical historian." regardless, that priestess does sound like one of the cooler humans to have lived

Trϵϵship, Tuesday, 16 October 2018 11:53 (seven years ago)

definitely real, it's on the internet

There was a popular N64 game based upon this historical figure, if I'm not mistaken, which I rarely am.
