Me, my brother and my cousins spent hours making mixs filled wit gross stuff and then pick up a tea spoon to drop gently on evry ant in the yard. WE ARE EVIL

Full on Hitler towards ants, I was - basic magnifying glass antics (plus finding dry grass to create small bonfires on top of nests), boiling water down ant-holes, stamping, blocking off holes with clay . . .
. . . we'd also capture cabbage white butterfly caterpillars, get the milky sap of some such plant we'd deemed to be poisonous, get thorns off, er, some thorny plant and "inject" the caterpillar with poison and leave it writhing on top of an antheap as a ploy to poison the queen.

. . . er, I was quite a sadistic wee fuck, wasn't I?

we used to execavate ant holes and put a piece of glass in so it was like having an ant farm with a real window into it!
