me: i am going to the gay marriage protest tomorrow with so-and-so

her: > pause < okay..i have to go

me: do you support marriage?

her: no!

me: why?

her: marriage is between a man and a woman. this is all bukwaas (urdu for foolish)!! i dont want to talk anymore!

::hangs up::

:ring ring:

me: don't you think your son should be able to get married?

her: i don't want to talk about this - i have to go to sleep!

me: but why ..why are you against me getting married?

her: man-man woman-woman is not marriage. it is ABNORMAL. you cannot produce kids that way

me: so should infertile couples not be allowed to get married either?

her: i have to go to sleep! bye!

:hangs up:

:ring ring:

me: why am i not allowed to get married? why would you not support your own son?

her: i dont want to talk anymore! i have to go to sleep!

me: how am i supposed to have a relationship with you if you don't want me to have the same rights...

her: what...rights..what right is this?

me: just to be able to get married, if i wanted to...

her: then get married, do not call me again or i will not pick up. i have to go to sleep

me: i am sending you an email. will you read it?

her: i am going to sleep! no email

me: will you read it tomorrow

her: maybe, maybe not..

me: you should read it

Well, yes. It takes a little time to change your mind about these things, it doesn't happen in one phone call.

i did happen to tell her that rachel maddow is gay two weeks ago though in election news-talk, and anderson cooper, and she just said okay. like it was no big deal. and i know she still watches them.

at least i'm still conversing with my mother. no longer with my dad since he thinks i am going to get aids and die lol

> it doesn't happen in one phone call.

if it did that would be a good one-act show. or a bad one-act show

Vichitravirya_XI, Saturday, 15 November 2008 05:11 (seventeen years ago)

It may not happen in one phone call, but I hope there will soon be one phone call when it does happen and she's able to acknowledge that you should have the same rights to marriage.

Oh, when I watched Triumph of the Will, I just kept thinking about the cats in the windows as the parade goes by, and how all those Nazi cats are dead now.

Casuistry, Saturday, 15 November 2008 05:16 (seventeen years ago)

I remember reading the autobio of G. Gordon Liddy once, but I can't remember the name. Triumph of the Will sounds like it should be it though...

Please post more correspondence of your mum!
