The bins... they've been that way for years. Blame the Irish.

3. Due to a line from Data, in reference to the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the Reunification of Ireland in 2024, the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The High Ground" was never shown in the Republic of Ireland or on British terrestrial television.

x-post these are the sacrifices that had to be made during the troubles. There's a new Jim Sheridan film coming out about a family who fought Ofcom for the right to watch that episode, and to blow up a school while bodhrán music played.

I like the way that to UK-vs-Britain pedants this suggests BBC NI might have put it on especially to get viewers worked up while the mainland was watching the snooker.

Recent airport queue I was in let everyone put their luggage on the conveyor belt while the people running the step-through metal detector announced "ladies first" (ok, probably more because they only had a female clothing-patter at that moment than out of sudden chivalry). Consequence: conveyor belt jams up with rucksacks belonging to men not allowed through yet, women also don't go anywhere because their bags are stuck in the machine.

THE TERRORISTS MAY HAVE WON BUT THE GREAT BRITISH PUBLIC CONTINUES TO BOW AND CURTSEY IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY -- TAKE THAT, BIN LADEN
