CLASSIC, FUCK CHANGE

Suedey 2, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:22 (seventeen years ago)

in the abscence of an OTM theme, choose Classic.

goole, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:26 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe, but I expect my pledge to use this for a week is going to function as a call for people to vote for the ugliest / most ridiculous option

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:26 (seventeen years ago)

... which is pretty clearly Zoozimps

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:27 (seventeen years ago)

...I was about to say.

jaymc, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)

teahouse has a cartoon of a red panda watering a bonsai or some shit, so i'm voting for that

dumb pseud (some dude), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)

i have no themes yet, wtf

cutty, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)

IRE needs a gmail themes invites thread

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

nabisco i voted tea house, because i think it aligns most closely with your personality

:) Mrs Edward Cullen XD (max), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

Terminal is a ticket to blindness

goole, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:32 (seventeen years ago)

i just switched to 'Shiny' - i hope the Google mail logo for that is a taster of their actual new logo

GSOHSHIT (blueski), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:36 (seventeen years ago)

tea house dead srs

BIG HOOS enjoys a cold mindbeer (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:39 (seventeen years ago)

theres one called "mountains" for me, that makes me enter my ZIP, as though the picturesque peaks of DOWNTOWN WASHINGTON DC are gonna welcome me to gmail everyday

69, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:41 (seventeen years ago)

It changes the weather based on the weather where you are

stet, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, I did that with "tree" for a while, and it just kept reminding me that it's unpleasant out

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:43 (seventeen years ago)

i personally am going with PLANETS despite its obviously incorrect name

:) Mrs Edward Cullen XD (max), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

xp i think it has a few bugs because it is gray gray gray here

69, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

what I don't understand is why I had to enter my zipcode for "planets"

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

like uh if I entered 2305972609-20 is it going to give me a view of the inner solar system as seen from europa or some shit

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

Where did your list of choices come from, and why isn't "Puppies" on it?

Paul in Santa Cruz, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

Terminal looked err fascinating voted for that. I am sticking with classic as usual, conservative-style.

Ludo, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

Yah, I voted zoozimps out of a lack of dating in high school

forksclovetofu, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

there should be an "old-school noize bored" theme!

69, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

a one with serif fonts also

stet, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE THEMES BUT ME?

cutty, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:52 (seventeen years ago)

I went with Cold Shower

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:52 (seventeen years ago)

I dunno, Cutty, gmail just magically informed me this morning that I could choose post-reformatting themes.

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:55 (seventeen years ago)

"Bus stop" giraffe is adorbs; it got my vote AND my own setting.

One Community Service Mummy, hold the Straightedge Merman (Laurel), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

Mine is CANDY

"alpha dog" (Tape Store), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i was bus stop for a while.

"alpha dog" (Tape Store), Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

other people in our office don't have themes yet too cutty; maybe it's power users or some such nonsense?

forksclovetofu, Thursday, 20 November 2008 20:57 (seventeen years ago)

I DON'T HAVE THEMES EITHER GAH

Manchego Bay (G00blar), Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:09 (seventeen years ago)

"what I don't understand is why I had to enter my zipcode for "planets""

Urgent and fucking key

Jarlrmai, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

Why is there a giraffe at the bus stop? I like the torn-paper design a LOT, but the giraffe is pushing the main window way over and creating an irritating gap between the sidebar and my mail.

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

I dunno what "planets" is but dudes, the heavens look different depending where you are

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

the giraffe is probably waiting for the bus

:) Mrs Edward Cullen XD (max), Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)

me either :(

nurse blorbius (jeff), Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:16 (seventeen years ago)

Woah I have 7265MB total space on my account. Hadn't noticed it creeping up and up.

stet, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:22 (seventeen years ago)

Whoa, this just popped up for me in my gmail. About time, google! (not just for me, but for gmail's interface getting any kind of overhaul)

Nhex, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

They need a version that makes your gmail appear to be Outlook, or Excel

nabisco, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:44 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not exactly sure why people are getting so excited about Gmail themes. They've been available for iGoogle for well over a year.

jaymc, Thursday, 20 November 2008 21:46 (seventeen years ago)

settings >> themes (all the way on the right)

(if you've looked here and have nothing, sry)

Manchego Bay (G00blar), Thursday, 20 November 2008 22:06 (seventeen years ago)

enjoy terminal nabisco!

o_O (ken c), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:31 (seventeen years ago)

I will keep my promise!

(P.S. I will also be blind by Sunday, so if anything needs to be done to make ILX compatible with computer speech software, someone might want to get on that)

nabisco, Friday, 21 November 2008 00:41 (seventeen years ago)

me either :(

weird, themes have since shown up as an option!

hyperspace situation (gbx), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:42 (seventeen years ago)

I went with Sunset.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:48 (seventeen years ago)

Dark, warm, nice contrasts, some of my better-loved colors.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:49 (seventeen years ago)

terminal is sort of awesome, actually

Manchego Bay (G00blar), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:53 (seventeen years ago)

just use mutt

hyperspace situation (gbx), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:53 (seventeen years ago)

One great thing about Terminal is that when I mouse over the chat list and someone's picture pops up, and it's like POW, gif of Abbott-head suddenly floating over terminal emulation

nabisco, Friday, 21 November 2008 00:53 (seventeen years ago)

I'm using Terminal by choice. It fucking rocks.

grimly fiendish, Friday, 21 November 2008 00:54 (seventeen years ago)

It's a bit like using the police computers on a crime procedural

nabisco, Friday, 21 November 2008 00:54 (seventeen years ago)

(I.e., this looks crappy and then POW full-color picture emerges handily from nowhere

nabisco, Friday, 21 November 2008 00:55 (seventeen years ago)

I swear, Classic is different from the way plain ol' gmail used to look.

Manchego Bay (G00blar), Friday, 21 November 2008 00:56 (seventeen years ago)

I am ghost in the terminal.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Friday, 21 November 2008 01:02 (seventeen years ago)

Tree is location-sensitive and changes by time of day.

You say that, but my gmail is shinier than a motherfuck even though it's dark as shit outside right now!

⊂⊃ ⊂⊃ ⊂⊃ ⊂⊃ ⊂⊃ (Pleasant Plains), Friday, 21 November 2008 01:08 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't say it was accurate to time of day!

Passenger 57 (rogermexico.), Friday, 21 November 2008 01:45 (seventeen years ago)

if you get used to terminal nabisco i think ilx also has a similar css stylesheet

o_O (ken c), Friday, 21 November 2008 02:15 (seventeen years ago)

which actuall looks quite good!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/kenjuggle3/terminal.png

o_O (ken c), Friday, 21 November 2008 02:19 (seventeen years ago)

I'm struggling to settle on a theme that gives a large enough colour contrast between read and unread messages.

krakow, Friday, 21 November 2008 07:49 (seventeen years ago)

I am using Shiny.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Friday, 21 November 2008 09:37 (seventeen years ago)

The undersea one looks different depending on where you are as well.

I want either a forest theme or a tasteless Manhattan skyline at night theme.

Chopper Aristotle (Matt DC), Friday, 21 November 2008 09:55 (seventeen years ago)

Someone make Ninja stylesheet for ILX okthxbye.

Chopper Aristotle (Matt DC), Friday, 21 November 2008 09:59 (seventeen years ago)

I am now Ninja. The starred symbol turns into a ninja throwing star! Shuriken?

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Friday, 21 November 2008 10:06 (seventeen years ago)

Oh FFS the undersea one actually DOES change depending on your location - dark and murky if you pick Ukraine, odd sort of blood red colour if you pick Hawaii. I am going to end up spending hours going "hmm, how does the tree one look if you are in Kabul?"

Why doesn't Google want me to be good at my job?

Chopper Aristotle (Matt DC), Friday, 21 November 2008 10:13 (seventeen years ago)

Aaah I see, it starts giving you regionally targeted Gmail ads. Well done Google.

Chopper Aristotle (Matt DC), Friday, 21 November 2008 10:16 (seventeen years ago)

picked shiny, altho i dont see no shine

baaderonixx, Friday, 21 November 2008 10:27 (seventeen years ago)

what the hell are you all talking about?

Ant Attack.. (Ste), Friday, 21 November 2008 10:37 (seventeen years ago)

I think Matt's talking about redundancy.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Friday, 21 November 2008 10:51 (seventeen years ago)

the one that mostly looks appropriate for work. DUH.

Nathalie (stevienixed), Friday, 21 November 2008 13:14 (seventeen years ago)

BEACH

slap bass: the ungentle art (stevie), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

shiny/ninja FTW

Black Seinfeld (HI DERE), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

actually terminal is really good i'm using that now too

o_O (ken c), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:30 (seventeen years ago)

only thing is that when you try and write an email the editor reverts back to black on white! noo!

o_O (ken c), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

^ lame

Tracer Hand, Friday, 21 November 2008 17:34 (seventeen years ago)

yeah they really need to fix the text boxes in terminal. it looks so out of place.

wmlynch, Friday, 21 November 2008 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

only thing is that when you try and write an email the editor reverts back to black on white! noo!

Not on Safari 3.1.2, certainly. And I'm pretty sure shitebox IE at work was fine, too (although I'm not 100% sure I actually tried writing anything there. Will check again on Monday.)

Anyway: lol, get a Mac etc.

grimly fiendish, Saturday, 22 November 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

Terminal's my favorite in principle; it'd be nice if they fixed the colors a little for better usability. They should make Terminal 2: and have it be a black background/yellowish orange font monochrome.

burt_stanton, Monday, 24 November 2008 10:49 (seventeen years ago)

I am embarrassed about how much i love gmail themes.

slap bass: the ungentle art (stevie), Monday, 24 November 2008 11:09 (seventeen years ago)

They should integrate weather reports into the Tea House theme (and others)

Tracer Hand, Monday, 24 November 2008 11:57 (seventeen years ago)

they seem to have just removed the themes again

o_O (ken c), Monday, 24 November 2008 12:05 (seventeen years ago)

I've not yet got in trouble for changing the gmail at work to the Ninja theme, though I'm guessing it will have been changed back when I get in tomorrow.

krakow, Monday, 24 November 2008 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

I'm going blind over this, BTW

nabisco, Monday, 24 November 2008 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

im using 'graffiti'

is that my man hannity?? (deej), Monday, 24 November 2008 19:31 (seventeen years ago)

Graffiti is a bit disappointing... I'm using 'Tree' and at first I didn't think it was doing anything 'region-specific', but it just changed to a snowy theme with little piles of snow on the top of the mail content box. Sure enough, I look outside - it's snowing. Thanks Gmail!

Rob Bolton, Monday, 24 November 2008 20:18 (seventeen years ago)

Eventually google will acquire Total Information Awareness and that theme will give you a live street-view feed of the nearest actual tree

nabisco, Monday, 24 November 2008 20:20 (seventeen years ago)

As well as introducing new themes like My Car, My Spouse, and That Chick I'm Stalking

nabisco, Monday, 24 November 2008 20:21 (seventeen years ago)

Soon Gmail will one-up the 'out-of-office auto-reply' and learn enough about you to just send personal email replies on your behalf. Saves you the bother of pesky email typing!

Rob Bolton, Monday, 24 November 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)

i kinda like "bubblegum" right now

roxymuzak, Sunday, 30 November 2008 22:26 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

switched from cold shower to marina today. now my email looks all nintendo.
