I love when I can pinpoint when I learned a word. Pretty sure I learned "infamous" from Three Amigos as well. I learned "obvious" from an episode of What's Happening Now, and "affidavit" from some JFK conspiracy book I read when I was 12.
― xpost haha (jaymc), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)
except the definition of infamous in three amigos is incorrect, right?
― n/a is just more of a character....in a genre polluted by clones (n/a), Friday, 21 November 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)
Yeah, I think so. I haven't seen it since I was 8.

5. how many make a "plethora"
― Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 21 November 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)
The Western Union guy uses "infamous" correctly and the Three Amigos (I think Steve Martin, specifically) comes up with the "it means REALLY famous" meaning.
I learned how to summon the invisible swordsman from Three Amigos. And also learned the meaning of the word "plethora."

Steven Spielberg considered directing the film but chose to do E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) instead. He has said in interviews his choices for the roles of the Three Amigos were Steve Martin for Lucky Day, Bill Murray for Dusty Bottoms and Robin Williams for Ned Nederlander.

wat
The basic story and quite a few scenes borrow heavily from Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai". (Shichinin no samurai (1954)): Village terrorized by bandits; A few villagers goes into town to find help; They have very little to offer; No help from towns people; They find "warriors"; They prepare defenses (among them water filled trenches); Large climactic battle; The leader is the last of the bandits to die; Three prepare to leave the village; One looks back at the girl he fell in love with (though Three amigos has a slightly happier version of what happens then).

Lots of dick jokes in Seven Samurai too
so perhaps the western nabisco was watching was The Magnificent Seven?
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 21 November 2008 20:38 (seventeen years ago)
THAT'S WAT
The Magnificent Seven is a 1960 western film directed by John Sturges about a group of hired gunmen protecting a Mexican village from bandits. It is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 film, Seven Samurai.
