Ugly cars in general, or more specifically the ugliest body style of long-running names. To start off, here's the 1981 Mustang. Even uglier IMO than the short-lived Mustang II.

The trouble with this, even allowing for Tuomas's objections, is that what is ugly to some or even many people looks pretty cool to some us. So, it seems that the AMC Pacer is mostly reviled but I think it looks pretty cool, crazy, but cool.

The Pontiac Aztek is a mid-size crossover SUV that was produced by the General Motors marque Pontiac from the 2001 model year to the 2005 model year.

The white thing is a 1996 Mercury Sable.

God, the Aztek is like a car ate a car and hasn't fully digested it yet.

I think someone once posted a green version on another thread and I compared it to a velociraptor or something but that's a little hazy now.

Mercury always makes Ford designs look worse. See the 1987 Sable.

When the Taurus was new (I'm older than 25), they were Spaceman Future Flying Cars (That Don't Actually Fly). They really stuck out at the time (for maybe a year or so), and not in a bad way.

The original Mercury Sable took the original Taurus' spaceship factor and upped it times infinity. One of the ugliest things to ever exist.

Try GISing 'Ford Probe concept' for a slew of cars that look like spaceships. Including the 'Probe III', which ended up being the main influence on the Ford Sierra.

One of my oldest friends and former roommate had a Probe and it was so poorly built. It definitely leaked during rain, but would also get totally wet inside on humid days.

I have something in common with many UFO abductees; I was once rear-ended by a Probe.

that Taurus was just as ugly inside, including this oval-shaped radio that couldn't play CDs in 1999 and no aftermarket radio would fit. No aux-in either.

I had a '98 Escort coupe with one of those blob radios. I pulled out the whole oval to replace it with a third-party unit that I could slot a Blaupunkt in.

Hey, that 3rd Generation 1996 Ford Taurus wagon a couple posts up is mine! When they came out in 1996, I said, "one day I'll have me one of those." Well, that Taurus I finally did get is nearing 300,000 miles on the odometer and I just bought a 1996 Mercury Sable wagon to add to the stable. Two beauties!

The newer Toyota FJ Cruisers are based on the old FJ40 Land Cruiser, which is still one of the coolest things Toyota has ever offered. They just made the new version comically large.

My username is a lot older than any others here or anywhere else on the internet. In the year 872, a Viking king named Harald HaarFager (Norwegian for 'fair hair'), united all of Norway into the first true Viking kingdom. And seeing as how I'm directly related to him, that's been my username on the internet for almost 20 years. I hope the fact that my distant relatives loved to rape and pillage doesn't cause any "cognitive dissonance" of it's own! Ha ha!

I do agree about the radio unit - it's awful! Mine has a couple knobs broken off and I have to use needlenose pliers to turn on heater. Poor design.

Don't disagree on the i8. Would really really like to drive one.

Old Land Cruisers are totally rad. The new one is certainly not the ugliest thing around, but it rubs me wrong. Everything so beholden to the wind tunnel these days.

Hell I like pretty much all those older, smallish-midsize, boxy 4X4s. Are there any from like early 80s that aren't maintenance nightmares? Would love to load up a Trooper II or Dodge Raider and go camping or whatever. Fun!
