I admit, I didn't expect this.

Gorgeous George Galloway New Labour!
Its the way you tell them Dave.

stevo, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mr Galloway asked: "Who can get inside the head of John Malkovich..."
Ooh, I know!

Jeff W, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, if I'm not mistaken, he's a south sider or maybe from Northwest Indiana. That's just what I heard, it may be wrong. Maybe he just lived there for a time. I'm from there, but I keep forgetting that people down there just handle things a little differently, a little more, um, directly, shall we say. That's why I keep my distance - you don't want to fuck with some of those people.

"His comments are especially dangerous because in a couple of days' time, I will be in the Palestinian Authority visiting President Arafat..."

And we all know the kind of influence Malkovich wields in that region!

"In the current climate of terrorism and violence and so on, if it was a joke it is not very funny and if it wasn't a joke, he will be hearing from my lawyers," he added.

Obviously, Galloway does not know the meaning of "irony" or "humour". As for the rest of that threat, I doubt Malkovich is shaking in his shoes.....

I'd say Malkovich wins this round. What actor doesn't feed off of his subject's reaction?

Nichole Graham, Monday, 6 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This is a rum case. I don't know about Galloway having no sense of humour. I mean, come on:

Mr Galloway asked: "Who can get inside the head of John Malkovich, a very strange man offering a dangerous liaison - indeed, offering a killing field?"

It sounds like he's having a field day.

v.v.lame/poor = no, surely?

mark s, Tuesday, 7 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No. It's different. And anyway, I do find Galloway's inane punnery quite funny in the context, as it is in conflict with the apparently outraged stance his threatened lawsuit suggests.

three weeks pass...
I am shocked and saddened to hear that Malkovich has no intention of seeing his plans through. What kind of a world is it when we cannot trust the word of our beloved actors? Celebrities have a way of getting away with bad behavior, including murder, so it's not like Malkovich had anything to fear in the way of retribution.

eighteen years pass...
