yeah sorry i mean house cats really, so simba is out. Shrek 2 is a good call. haven't seen Cat People...i guess the cats are kind of anti-heroes in that?

Vault Boy Bobblehead - Drinking (kingfish), Friday, 19 December 2008 04:19 (seventeen years ago)

Milo goes on many adventures, escaping one incident after another. He encounters no fewer than three bears; escapes from the desolate, raven-infested Deadwood Swamp; steals a muskrat from a vulpine cache; follows a train-track to the home of a female deer, who shelters him; sleeps in an Owl's "dreaming nest"; stays for a while with a sow pig and her piglets; catches a fish, only to have it stolen by a raccoon; is mobbed by seagulls; and evades first the third bear, then a snake, only to fall into a hole.

Just watched this Hong Kong flick called THE CAT. It is about this CAT who is a ninja secret agent from outer space, and is played by an actual cat, when not played by a sponge with hair glued on. The SPACE CAT has epic, insane kung-fu battles with a vicious, evil, massive guard dog - TWICE! Once in a museum or something (see below), and once in a junkyard. This is approximately the greatest movie ever made about heroic cats. Made by Story of Ricky guy, so, you know...

cursed small internet

SPACE CAT also gets booty:

See it now!

Oh, plus special effects like a budget Chinese version of The Thing (or maybe Ghostbusters, same difference).

Never mind the cat, what the hell is that other thing?! Teenage mutant ninja mouse?

Tuomas, Friday, 19 December 2008 12:37 (seventeen years ago)

Oh I see this was mentioned up thread. It's not very good but it's pretty awesome how the cat chases the little troll creature.

There are some pretty sketchy scenes where cats look like they might be getting shocked... Not sure if it's real or simulated. I haven't seen this since I was a kid.

Nate Carson, Friday, 19 December 2008 12:38 (seventeen years ago)

I have never met anyone who remembers this show, and until the advent of youtube, thought I may well have imagined it:

Also, the movie "Creepshow" includes a segment based on a Stephen King story, "The Cat from Hell." The titular cat manages to kill hitman David Johannson -- who has been hired to kill the cat -- by paralyzing him, crawling into his body via the mouth, and eating his way out from the inside. Don't know how heroic that is, but there you go.

"Tales from the Darkside," not "Creepshow."

^^lol

and omg @ waldo kitty.

i remember a hammer horror compilation film where one of the segments involved an old woman who lived with many cats, and the cats kill people who are trying to steal her fortune. i guess cats outnumber dogs as villains in horror films, at least.

this was it: The Uncanny http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076853/

Last year, my girlfriend and I rented Homeward Bound & watched it w/ Spanish dubs & English subtitles (neither of us know much Espanol' ). By doing this, we were able to appreciate it for the art film it truly is.

Great thread - just saw Whisper of the Heart this weekend. Cat's Eye is money, too. Best use of "Every Step You Take" in a movie soundtrack I've ever heard.

throwbookatface (skygreenleopard), Monday, 22 December 2008 15:46 (seventeen years ago)

Hey wait, Jones wasn't heroic -- he got Harry Dean Stanton killed and almost got Sigourney Weaver killed!
