I've recently adopted a SATO puppy from a local shelter and I have to let everyone know how pleased I am.

DV, Tuesday, 7 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ohh! I want a dog! Here's a link to my parent's new pup. Would you believe his Dad came in popsickle form?

bnw, Tuesday, 7 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

He's a sweet little dog and I know he'll bring you lots of joy :)

Gale Deslongchamps, Tuesday, 7 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

bnw: Your dog was a test tube puppy?

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo, Wednesday, 8 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I mean, your parent's dog?

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo, Wednesday, 8 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The dog has been adjusting well. He is wonderful, and he is bold. In our condo complex lives two giant rottweilers and whenever I take the boy out, he stand in front of me and tries to protect me from these two giants. He weighs all of 15 lbs and thats as big as he is getting. He has not made any messes in the house and he seems to know when to go outside. Apparently he was wandering the streets of Puerto Rico and some children were throwing rocks at him to shoo him from their baseball game and a nun rescued him. Its sad to think of these dogs situation in P.R. the government really doesn't give a shit. Take a look at that site and read up, its rather interesting.

Chris, Wednesday, 8 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel sorry for the kids in PR. If they had Gameboys they wouldn't throw rocks at a dog. Anyway, I bet the dog thought it was a game and kept bringing the rocks back to them.

six years pass...

I would like to adopt a dog : (

is it at all viable tho if you live in a flat and are work for 8 hours a day?

czn, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:41 (seventeen years ago)

depends what kind. dont let people tell you you cant have a big dog in an apartment. the big dogs are the laziest of them all and will happily sleep 20 hours a day if you let them on the couch.

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

well, i know from experience this is true for bull mastiffs and great danes. dont know about other big dogs.

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:56 (seventeen years ago)

i want a dog so badly and it makes me sad that i can't have one.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

also, if you get a lab or beagle pup you will most likely come home to pieces of wood and shreds of material where your furniture once was

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

i followed a shiba inu for a couple of blocks this morning on the way to work. i stalk other people's puppies.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:58 (seventeen years ago)

why cant you get a dog, bell?

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 14:59 (seventeen years ago)

i'm going to school next year while also working full time and it just wouldn't be fair to the doggy. as it is i am out of my apartment at least 10 hours a day because i have an hour commute into work which seems like a long time to leave a dog alone.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:02 (seventeen years ago)

yeah. more than 8 hours is pushing it, i guess.

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:04 (seventeen years ago)

i will get a dog as soon as i have an apartment with a yard that is close enough to where i work to go home during lunch.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:04 (seventeen years ago)

^yes : )

but also : ( because that isn't in my foreseeable future

czn, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:05 (seventeen years ago)

I would like a wee cairn or westie, a terrier, but any sad faced quiet rescue dog will do really

czn, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:06 (seventeen years ago)

a friend of my parents has 3 cairns. incredibly cute! hell on wheels, though.

lauren, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:08 (seventeen years ago)

i am really excited to be going to spend a week at my parent's house hanging out with my sister's dog next week!

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)

: )

that's what I'm after; my gf's mum has a little terrier cross called harry and he's a needy little fucker but he's surprisingly well behaved; I think it was because he was abused by the farmer who was hours from shooting him, when he was rescued

czn, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)

I love dogs... pictures of rescue dogs in shelters break my hear tho

czn, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:11 (seventeen years ago)

my sister's dog is a rescue dog - she was dropped off in some kind of unwanted animal depository bin :( she is the sweetest natured dog ever.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)

i want roller!

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)

I've wanted a dog for as long as I can remember. A good friend of mine was going to get one of those big gray Alaskan dogs (not a malamute, the other one...) and I was really excited because I could play with him sometimes, but someone else adopted him first :(

Can't have one where I live, and I'm switching hemispheres in a few months, so... frown face

RabiesAngentleman, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)

otter is too cute!

czn, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)

one of my best friends is thinking of fostering and has been sending me pictures of potential candidates from rescue sites, and i've been getting all teary-eyed on a regular basis.

lauren, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)

Is anyone who went to Terrastock around? What sort of dog was that massive, massive, wolf faced dog I was seeing around? He/she was so beautiful.

RabiesAngentleman, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)

the front page of that badrap site has a photo of a dogpile on a sofa that's the greatest achievement of human civilization

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)

omg, i want to adopt all of those pits!

lauren, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)

(xp) do you mean a husky upthread?

http://www.pets.ca/breedprofiles/a/siberianhuskey/s17.jpg

RabiesAngentleman, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)

RabiesAngentleman, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)

RabiesAngentleman, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)

sunny successor, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:42 (seventeen years ago)

uhm now i'm getting teary at my desk looking at dogs on petfinder. when i finally do move to the big farmhouse in the country i am going to end up with about 15 dogs.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)

me too. i think we should explore the possibility of a joint farm venture: cheese-making/dog sanctuary.

lauren, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)

i am so down for that!

bell_labs, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

I am going to call my dog KABOOM

or lewis

czn, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 08:58 (seventeen years ago)

From a strictly aesthetic point of view I'd really like to get a very large dog and name him Halliburton.
