That is a pretty amazing picture. However: if it is the greatest thing I will ever see, I might as well go hang myself in the bathroom.

but can IT lick ITS elbow?

do cats have elbows, even?

warmsherry, Friday, 2 January 2009 20:50 (sixteen years ago)

I'd feel weird calling the joints on their front legs 'knees'.

Me, too! I compromise and call them "kneebows."

I like that picture, and I don't think about dogs much one way or another. Can I be a lover of fast-ish Canon lenses?

mose def (kenan), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:18 (sixteen years ago)

Definitely.

Sickamous Mouthall (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:20 (sixteen years ago)

The pic at the top of the thread rules, though. Doggy cannot compete.

mose def (kenan), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:20 (sixteen years ago)

Aw. Poor dog. All of a sudden I feel bad for him. :(

mose def (kenan), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:22 (sixteen years ago)

Nick, I'm assuming that's the f/1.8 50mm lens? Would it be gauche to ask how many pounds?

mose def (kenan), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:23 (sixteen years ago)

ah never mind. I'm seeing online deals for $80 or so.

mose def (kenan), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:28 (sixteen years ago)

(Not that I have a camera to put it on as of yet, mind you. But I have been daunted at the idea of buying a DSLR for the $800 or so they're going for and then having to spend nearly as much on new lenses. It's good to know that that lens -- prolly the first extra one I'll get, actually -- isn't madhouse expensive.)

mose def (kenan), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:32 (sixteen years ago)

I'd go as far as to recommend just buying a body with that lens and foregoing the kit lens; I pretty much use this exclusively now.

Sickamous Mouthall (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:47 (sixteen years ago)

Where did you end up buying that camera from? I think you mentioned in the digital camera thread but I can't find it right now.

nate woolls, Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:49 (sixteen years ago)

I got it from Jessops on the high street; it was £350 with a free bag (worth £50 new and which we sold via ebay for £20), plus £30 cashback from Canon, which took about a month or six weeks to come through. So basically we got it for £300.

Sickamous Mouthall (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:52 (sixteen years ago)

Thanks

nate woolls, Tuesday, 27 January 2009 10:53 (sixteen years ago)

the 50mm/1.8 is such a good lens
