after an 18 month hiatus on the piccadilly, i am back on the northern line. i am now living, temporarily at least, in kentish town (opposite bull & gate)

so, kentish town... classic or dud?

one thing i hadn't really noticed before is just how many fuckups and dodgy people there are here! the police seem to be perpetually bundling people into the backs of cars. i'm sure i never noticed this before...

Kentish Town West station is scary.

Jonnie, Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bo! I'm on the Northern Line too!! I haf always had a roXoR time at the Bull & Gate - on saying that I've not been there for ages. DOES THIS MEAN the next time we all end up at the B&S it's all back to Gareths?

Agh, years of Belle & Sebastian fan conditioning comes back to get me!!

Sarah, Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Gareth - whither this obsession with dodgy people and fuckups. Just call them local colour.

Pete, Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw Pavement there, it was gloomy.

Gareth doesn't realise this of course, but subconsciously his favourite record is Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves.

i didn't realise it, because i have never heard of it! what is it? it sounds like it should be by tom waits

Oh you do know it! It's by Cher. The one about "I was born in the blah blah blah blah my childhood was iffy, papa would steal whatever he could".

It's in that hilarious Simpsons where the business man guy does Cher in Karaoke.

Thieves, rather.

Where does crime go in the ILE categorisation?

So you've seen me on the way to work, Gareth?

I work in the offices above the Bengal Lancer, opp the Post Office on Kentish Town Road, so we should have a drink when I get back from my hols. The area was a fright when I started going there in midwinter drizzle, but now I'm almost fond of it. There's some nice pubs (the Jorene Celeste), some good caffs (including Le Petit Prince! and Mario's Cafe!). And, of course, the immortal B&S DIY.

The tube station with no DOWN escalator is a major dud now, though.

But surely Edna you can get a 134 and then 1 and then a 188 home.

See your point.

gareth - why did you move? (or is this on another thread?) what made you choose where you live?

Queen G the abreviated, Saturday, 11 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

we all left the last house because of dodgy landlord, i didn't manage to sort something out in time though.

i didn't choose kentish town as such, it just kind of happened. this place is temporary, only for a couple months, but it will give me time to sort out what happens next, and theres no strings attached so its kind of ok

its a good central location and good for going out and stuff. theres nothing wrong with the area really, its a bit skanky, but then everyone seems to think finsbury park was dodgy and i thought that was fine, so often i think its just getting used to a place...
