They were discussing this on Fresh Air this week. I want to see it.

S., Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i want to see it too. i haven't skated - actively - in about 5 years, but the allure is still strong.

jess, Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You have skated passively?

N., Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that what you emo kids are into now, N., passive skating?

fritz, Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

N. just softly skates up to a girl he likes, haltingly asks if she wants to go somewhere to do something, then cries when rejected. He's asked Nicole Kidman out this way 25 times and every time she says no!

I kinda get the feelin sometimes that I might be the only person who fucking loved this and was not offended by the Lords of Dogtown pic. Heath Ledger as Skip is pretty heavy.

Jay Adams was the one with the drug and incarceration issues.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 5 March 2010 18:52 (sixteen years ago)

lol this person has obviously never seen the number of dudes lollygagging around any given US college campus w/ longboards.

Fuckin love this movie, btw. Bones-Brigade era pros were gods to me when I was a kid, so it is a real treat to have such a skillful telling of the events that led to that scene. LOVE all the lost footage of the late-70s So-Cal backyard pool skaters & their surveillance/clean/skate/retreat system.

Poor Jay Adams. So ridiculously next-level talented & yet so clearly damned from the beginning.

Revive! (and revive me... I've been away from ilx too long)

Been feasting on youtube lately, and there's a wealth of Dogtown-related stuff now. I remember back in the day TA always used to give good interview. And he still does. Here's a sweet little vid from Vans' Pass the Bucket series:

Love TA. It's funny him talking about love and God, but he still looks a liiiitle bit crabby, that way he always has.
