2002 Living with Crazy Buttocks

2 5 (Z S), Sunday, 11 January 2009 18:10 (sixteen years ago)

Highlights in the History of the Concrete actually seems like it could be a good read!

"How to Shit in the Woods: An Environmentally Sound Approach to a Lost Art"

Bought this for my dad (as humorous birthday present).

(it's actually pretty decent!)

Living with Crazy Buttocks will surely get a lot of votes, so I'll go for the underdog, The Book of Marmalade: Its Antecedents, Its History, and Its Role in the World Today. I'm liking the implication of great significance.

I think my fave is Bombproof Yr Horse.

chuzzuck eddizy (libcrypt), Sunday, 11 January 2009 18:22 (sixteen years ago)

It was a close call between How to Avoid Huge Ships and The Theory of Lengthwise Rolling; I went with the former.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

Weeds in a Changing World is good, too.

Abbott of the Trapezoid Monks (Abbott), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

Greek Rural Postmen and Their Cancellation Numbers was also tempting.

Many of these are academic or small-niche hobby books, and when you suss out what they are talking about (e.g. nude mice) they lose some of their flair. Not so with Oral Sadism and the Vegetarian Personality. It is flamboyant not matter which end of the stick you pick up.

Closure in Your Relationship is pretty good.

Birth Control to Ginger Tom (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 11 January 2009 19:45 (sixteen years ago)

Wow! I didn't even know this award existed! Thanx for the poll, libcrypt!

That the sex titles are on here is juvenile. But I'm obsessed with godforsaken, excruciatingly dull cities (Naperville), films (just last night I fell in love with Marguerite Duras' India Song), and books, e.g., The People's Almanac published a list of the "Most Unusual Books Ever Published." My fave is:

MANUALE DI CONVERSIAZONE: ITALIANO - GROENLANDESE by Ciro Sozio & Mario Fantin, 1962.
One of the least used dictionaries in the world, it translates Italian into Greenland Eskimo language.

I NEED this book! And I want to meet the people who actually USED it!

Anyhoo, on this list, I'm going with Versailles: The View From Sweden cuz there's even a boooooooooring NYT article to go with it. In fact, it's so Durassien that the first paragraph is repeated twice (sorta).

Oh and btw, these would make great b-day/xmas/whatever gifts for those difficult people to buy for.

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 11 January 2009 21:10 (sixteen years ago)

The Big Book of Lesbian Horse Stories

Every Day Jimmy Mod Is Hustlin' (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Sunday, 11 January 2009 21:32 (sixteen years ago)

There are a few lists of also-rans on our internets for finding, which are as funny if not moreso than the winners.
