New 'well, there are three Welsh teams in the English leagues already, aren't there?' 'yes but they're not the OLD FIRM!' answers.

It's wrong. It has the whiff of sexually depravity. but let them join in Div One, ha ha! as if they would! let them struggle against Watford n Stoke when they imagine they're on the level w/ yer Arsenal n Man Utd - as if...
Nah they have D of G, they wouldnt lower themselves to play in Div One (Hartson would have a heart attack, going back!). it is a mere smokescreen - for what... um, I dunno. yeah

Let us fondly remember the last time Rangers played a serious game across theborder. A plague on both their houses.

Billy Dods, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The last time I saw Rangers play south of the border they got battered at Saltergate, so I reckon they'd get relegated!

this was 1982 though. ahem

So, they are joining the football league rather than the priemership?

The Nationwide, yes -- at least, that's what was alleged.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 12 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't really see them going for that. No route into Europe, and they'd be terribly embarassed if they failed to get promoted. Hmmm, they aren't really in a great position, what with the rest of the Scottish league resigning!

Exactly, and it doesn't look likely that they _would_ get voted in. It's looking like the "I ain't sharing the pudding with the new kids" scenario.

apparently EU regulations mean that Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic are shortly going to be merged into one team, Glasgow United.

Time to repatriate Berwick Rangers too?
