I propose the following as an amendment to the United States Constitution. It's called the "New America Amendment."

1. Congress shall have the power to enact any legislation that it deems to promote the general welfare.
2. This power shall include all forms of regulation, taxation and spending.
3. The first ten amendments to the Constitution, and the thirteenth, are hereby repealed.
4. The United States shall strive to create a progressive, socialist, secular society in which all citizens are required to work for the common good. Property, human labor, and other resources shall be assigned and regulated as the federal government deems appropriate.
5. Any state may by legislation, and notwithstanding any federal law to the contrary, secede from the Union.

This is what you want, isn't it? Many Americans approve of the first four clauses in principle, even if they wouldn't word them quite that way. We could cut #3 if you like, because #1 and #2 cover it fairly well. That is, unlimited power means the power to take whatever you want, rights be damned. Do you want to regulate speech, take citizens' property for private purposes, impose national-service mandates, and enact national environmental and health care laws? Wouldn't it be convenient to get rid of any need to evade the Constitution with dodges like "interstate commerce?" You could do whatever you want, and trust majority will!

And you wouldn't oppose #5 if we did the first four, would you?

Let's have this debate. Our government has been acting far outside its legal authority. So why not pass this amendment, to eliminate legal objections to the progressive agenda? Many people would probably like it, and it'd help get rid of pesky critics like me.

Pass this proposal on, so we can have an honest and open debate about creating a New America!

The U.S. government either has proof or suspects that 62 former Gitmo detainees have returned to terrorism since their release. Even though that is public knowledge, what's one of the first things that Obama does after he takes office? He orders that Gitmo be closed. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

Also, for those of you don't like Bush Jr, next time you want to criticize him for his "warrentless wiretapping" and otherwise taking away our civil liberties, remember that during the Civil War, Abe Lincon, yes, *that* Abe Lincon suspended Habeus Corpus. I don't see anyone complaining about him taking away civil

Joe D. lives around the curve from me. He worked in construction until last year. Cement work, plaster, drywall. Years of experience. He has been hoping for a job when this "rebuild the infrastructure" stuff gets rolling.

Ain't gonna happen:

Obama adviser: White males need not apply

Robert Reich tells House panel stimulus package should emphasize 'social return' over worker skill

A top economic adviser to President Obama has told a congressional panel the billions of dollars in the proposed economic stimulus plan should be allocated with social issues in mind, to make sure the money doesn't go to just "white male construction workers" or the highly skilled.

Robert Reich, who served as labor secretary under President Clinton, was speaking to the House Steering and Policy Committee Jan. 7 about funding infrastructure projects across the nation.

"It seems to me that infrastructure spending is a very important and good way of stimulating the economy. The challenge will be to do it quickly, to find projects that can be done that will have a high social return, that also can be done with the greatest speed possible," Reich said.

"I am concerned, as I'm sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers," he said.

Well, we have a new president. One to which i plan on giving the same level of respect to that the democrats have given bush in the past 4 years. I will still respect the office, but not the man running it, a proven marxist, with known terrorist and racist friends who will most likely put us into more debt than ever before.

We should all do something right now.

1. Get a peice of paper.
2. Write down A. The price of a gallon of gas. B. The price of a gallon of milk. And C. The amount of taxes taken out of your paycheck.
3. Put this paper in an envelope, and shove it somewhere safe and forget about it.
4. Wait 4 years.
5. Open the envelope, remove the paper, and compare it to the current cost of the 2 and the amount of the third.

We'll see how much it changes.

Nothing says "incisive political commentary" like a guy dressed up as a purple alligator with a giant schlong.

So, do they have to declare their real names _and_ their fursonas whenever they donate funds to SarahPAC?
