What's the word for the phenomenon of seeing something unfamiliar, for the first time, and then immediately seeing the same thing everywhere?

I saw it on a word-a-day calendar a while back and thought to myself "hm, I didn't know there was a word for that!" And now I can't remember.

That's the right idea, but it was a single word. This is driving me ever so slightly nuts.

A B-M, as it's popularly named, requires that the item not be seasonal, e.g. two references to St Nicholas in December, and not be especially commonplace. Technically, a B-M occurs in a 24 hour space, although there can be some leeway on this requirement. When readers submit a possible B-M, the editors rule on its acceptability. Their ruling cannot be appealed.

lol unfortunate abbreviation

lib, i'm still saying synchronicity; conf bias was the psychological explanation for the phenomenon

k3vin k., Wednesday, 28 January 2009 17:47 (seventeen years ago)

Tell that to Mr. Fever.

i just learned that baader-meinhof phenomenon existed as a concept like a week ago, no jokes, and here it is back in my face.

lol

Thanks everyone. Maybe it was "Baader-Meinhof phenomenon" after all, but that seems like a weird entry for a word-a-day calendar.
