This chick was my big year 11/lower sixth crush, as we got German music TV in the house, and so it's weird seeing the girl who got me through some... difficult times as a 15-year-old now stunt as some legit Figure Of Cultural Importance. It'd be like, I dunno, Samantha Janus having a South Bank Show on her.

Over at Canongate, the hugely respected editor Francis Bickmore loves it – though he admits he only read a few pages when it came up for auction.

"I think it is courageous of Fourth Estate to take on this book on," he says. "I think Charlotte Roche is writing Punk Feminism. She is about shocking people. It is porn, but it is also about throwing the cat among the pigeons."

a) the neo-burlesque of literature?
b) the Belle du Jour it's okay to like?

Obviously I'm not going to actually read it to find out.
