RickyT, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(If Tim's reading this, I wasn't very clear. It's Lixi. Thanks)

(If Lixi's reading this, erm... wait until tonight)

Graham, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What creepy stuff are you talking about my flatmate NOW?

Sarah, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nothing creepy. Nice in fact. Very very nice.

Graham, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What time? Will anybody be going back towards Edgware Road Station (the circle, district line one) or going on the Hammersmith and City Line to Hammersmith?

jel --, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jel, RickyT and i shall probably be going home on the H&S line if you'd like travelling buddies!

katie, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jel: i will be heading back to hammersmiff on the pink line. And can i just add:

BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE! BOOZE!

thanks

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Cool! I shall travel on the magical hammersmith and city line! and then get the not so magical piccadilly line!

jel --, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And you get to CROSS A ROAD when changing lines, jel

Jeff W, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I bet it is creepy.

Sarah, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nice pub, well done chaps. Hope it's a good one, I'll raise a bottle of coke to you

chris, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not just one road Jeff! Two roads!

jel --, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

In the absence of Ptee I will be able to travel home on the tube. Hurray. However I will have to change about 93 times so will prolly get horribly lost.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

awww chris! we'll be thinking of you too... hey isn't there any kind of kewl fruit juice concoction you can drink instead of boring old coke? surely you must be able to get your hands on some... um taro juice or something?

katie, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

corr, if i'd known that counted as Paddington i'd have been in there with some suggestions earlier, as is my old stamping ground. kind of.

there are some really ornate pubs around warwick avenue. another suggestion (NOT NOW, for future ref) that's a real favourite in the good weather is the "Warwick Castle" (on Warwick Place), it's not huge and the beer selection is good enough. Tend to get morris dancer's there for some reason (in morris dancer season)

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What time will everyone be getting there?

RickyT, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sadly I can't make it - woz looking forward to seeing everyone again. Hopefully the next FAP will be soon.

Dr. C, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Strong correlation between Morris Dancing and CAMRA membership means you often find the bebelled ones in pubs w/goodly ales.

RickyT, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Five pounds says it's nice.

(I expect everyone to report back on the perceived creepiness of my actions)

Graham, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll prolly be there at around half seven.

jel --, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Going shopping beforehand so maybe 6.30, 6.45ish? Also I am still not absolutely sure of the location of this pub, I will SCOUR streetmap.

Sarah, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

after experimentation at the same bar this lunchtime it may well be a mango, or a really nice coffee shake, mmm, lovely, but definitely not the tomato shake that's on offer! TOMATO SHAKE????? what fresh madness?

chris, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

still trying to decide whether to come along or not; keen to, but my sister is staying with me and i keep being out all day and i feel a bit bad about that (and no, i don't think she'll be up with coming down the pub with interweb mentalists). hmm. if i do then i'll be there 6:30-7, i guess...

toby, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i think that toby should bring his sister to the pub (aww come on we'll be nice), and chris should try the tomato shake! drink it! DRINK IT!!!!

katie, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going shopping beforehand too (for a huge phone cable for the house Starry, and also for PRESENTS) but probably a bit earlier so I should make it to the pub fairly early too.

Tom, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ph34r not Sarah with my miraculous navigational skillz we will find the pub.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's only a short walk from, oh god what's that bit of town with little venice in it, not belsize park, oh god a week out of the country and I forget my london geography!!!!

anyway, it's all but on the 98 bus route from Oxford street anyway.

chris, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I ph34r not as I haf made a PRINTOUT of STREETMAP and highlighted the route from tube to pub in bloo highlightxx0r. Ph34r m3333333333!!! Yay for huge phone cable too cheerz Tom.

Sarah, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How far is 'all but'? I am wearing 4 inch heels y'know.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

about 5 mins walk fwir, get off at the second stop in zone 2, I think. I also think that Jonnie5 may have been there too, with me and my ex, some years ago, there were definitely a few of us who went.

chris, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am also wearing four inch heels. There are limits to my heel tolerance.

Anna, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This is very odd, getting bus information from Thailand.

N., Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm wearing about ooh 2 and a half inch heels, which are k-comfy (the shoe is all padded as well which is mmm ace). i find it remarkably difficult to endure for any length of time in anything higher cos my feet start to hurt so - does this just get better with practise? (or is it just my HUGE FAT WEIGHT pressing down on the poor abused feet chiz?) i am now looking fwd to comapring shooez tonight as well hurrah!!

katie, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

N. the 98 used to be my key bus. As opposed to the 48, now I am in Walthamstow (in the loosest sense of course, at the moment my key route is wherever I tell the motorbike taxio to take me)

chris, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When I say 4 inches bear in mind that I am not a very good judge of lengths and it is probably more like 2-3. In fact it is 3 as I just got a ruler & checked cos I am that bored. I am trying to counteract the deeply painful yoga poses we were doing last night by bunching up my calf muscles.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

One inch. Yawn.

Sarah, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha everyone I have ever slept with should be v. grateful for my overestimation of inchage.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'll be there around 8

gareth, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah shoes get better the more you torture your feet. I'm quite good at walking in very high heels (short girl thing), only one pair have ever defeated me. I bought them because they looked just like the kind of thing Jessica Rabbit would have worn. I neglected to think that Jesscia Rabbit is a cartoon and therefore doesn't have the same walking concerns as other women.

Anna, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

See you all later, will have to leave early though.

Ed, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think i'll have to be ptee's proxy tonite em, and insist we get the bus home. does the 98 go from holborn or start on ox street? should be there abt 7ish, as am going to work do first. my heels are half an inch :)

CarsmileSteve, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Steve, this may contain the information you require...

Tim, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Man, London Transport typography is beautiful. Takes seeing it out of context to remind me.

N., Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Report to The Hippyfynder General immediately.

Graham, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How delightful it is to always have a gentleman to escort one home.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course if I offered to escort young ladies home it would be considered creepy, sigh.

Graham, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Steve and Emma are mates who live around the corner from each other, Graham.

N., Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Anti-creepiness hint: only escort people who live in the same direction as you.

Emma, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

a grea time was had by all. coming zoon, more bouze

ed, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It was a cool night, and it was good to me Anthony!

jel --, Wednesday, 15 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i want my ILE details.

Queen G's netherlands, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

lovely to see ALL of you, in no particular order: Anthony ("pronounced with a TH in the middle!!"), "Batwing" Starry, Ricky "Don't call me Ricky" T, Martin, Marcello, Gareth, Birthday Carsmile, Marcello, Emma, Tom, Pete in turning up shockah!!, Suzy, Ed, Anna, Tha Pinefox, Toby, Jel, AlangT, Mr. Tim Hopkins (all too briefly), Mark C... loads of us, i must have forgotten someone! but it was a top evening! (sorry if i did forget anyone from that role call)

katie, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn good night. I really should have had something to eat though; my stomach is not at all happy with me now.

RickyT, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You know I didn't think I was drunk, and then I remembered I took my shoes off to run down the tube platform so I must have been. Yuck.

(Oh and to clear up my swaping e-mail addresses - which at least three people mentioned, home cookies set to hotmail, work cookies to emap, and I'm not Anna Rose, she's someone el

Anna, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay it was fantastick to meet you AnTHony! I also did not think I was very drunk although the fact that I was INCOHERENT, LOUD and then INSTANTLY mood switched to 'must sleep oooh must east sossidge first oooh must sleeeeeeep' should haf been some kind of indication. There was no port and cheese those not attending will be sad to hear. Hope to see AnTHony again before you leave!!

(NB I am not wearing my BATWING top today as it is a SCORCHA innit)

Sarah, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought you weren't going Mr. Carlin, but from the above roll call it looks like you were there twice! And the Pinefox!

Damnsh@tf@ck - I wish I had've been there, espec since I found out an hour ago that I still have a job. More record money - yes! Part of reason for not going out was tight cashflow situation and *certain* impending lay-off doom.

Dr. C, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Anthony I am very very sorry for our lack of hospitality and hope you got home OK!

Tom, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(hehe Dr.C Marcello was there with his evil twin! OR WAS IT DAVE Q IN DISGUISE? OOPS)

katie, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am glad you're still employed, Dr.C. I look forward to hearing all about the next dub boxset you get :-)

Hmph. One of these days a FAP will coincide with one of my trips back to London. One of these days...

Jeff W, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well tell us when you are gonna be here & we will fix it all up specially for you! Cos we are lovely warm gooey people where pubs are concerned.

Emma, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yep - a Jeff-fest is a must. Is there a prog and ACR theme pub around?

Isn't Marcello's evil twin Disgruntled of Ilford or whatever he was called? Is this just Marcello in a shellsuit?

Dr. C, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Disgruntled of Ilford"

Wot, me?

DG, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i think you will find that **I** am disgruntled of Ilford, heheh - and don't you diss my shellsuit you slaaagggg!! ;)

katie IN ILFORD, bah., Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Leeave it art DG, I know it's not you, geezer! Oi've remembered 'oo it woz, like. Chinford Tor Ascender, innit?

Dr. C, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So that'll be five pounds please Sarah.

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nothing creepy then?

(I was going to come along to the pub actually but forgot and suddenly remembered about half 9)

DG, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh hush you are having none of my money.

Sarah, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

MINE all MINE (okay the banks overdraft thank you bank)

Sarah, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So did she like it?

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm afraid to say that for some reason Lixi did not attend last night and is therefore still in the dark about whatever this (creepy) thing could be...

Sarah, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I ate it. Sorry!

(Not really)

Tim, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you talking about that indie single?

Tom, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm very confused now.

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(that indie single is not related to these events)

jel --, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No jel not THAT indie single. The other one!

Tom, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"indie"?

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two indie singles! The plot thickens!

jel --, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

God, this thread is worse than the Guardian Letters Page one.

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you saying it's not indie?

I've not heard it by the way.

Tom, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's great!!

jamie theakston superstar, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do indie singles advertise themselves with "MASSIVE DANCE REMIXES"?

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes.

Tom, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Is there anything that isn't indie?

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tarmac

jel --, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

All the records you listen to are indie Graham. You indiefy them with a special ray.

Tom, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

corr, if i'd known that counted as Paddington i'd have been in there with some suggestions earlier, as is my old stamping ground. kind of. there are some really ornate pubs around warwick avenue. another suggestion (NOT NOW, for future ref) that's a real favourite in the good weather is the "Warwick Castle" (on Warwick Place), it's not huge and the beer selection is good enough.

And k-blimey, if I'd known *that* I'd have hassled you when trying to find okish and easy to find pubs near Warwick Place/Formosa St before going to see Clinic in Maida Vale. Found an ale purist pub crawl website which was helpful anyway, place we ended up in was probably not actually the best option (not the place you mentioned, think that was either not close enough or sounded too small and potentially crowded, though where we actually went was packed) but was good enough. If it ever happens again expect to be hassled. :)

R, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But I've never even heard Yo La Tengo.

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

used to walk past those odd looking studios loads, but never ever took the opportunity to go. odd the things you don't take advantage of that are practically just outside your front door. a thread perhaps...

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If anyone's wondering, I got Lixi a copy of Alda's "Real Good Time" (what we were discussing last time I saw), which I gave to Tim on Sunday to pass on to her.

This is what Tom and Ktee are talking about, right?

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh! I *did* eat that. It was crunchy, but not specially massive.

Tim, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

and the shiny wrapping was murder on my fillings

Tim, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I got the CD. Thank you Graham. It was nise. I could not attend last night because I was busy trying to write 5000 words on something which I have realised is totally pointless. I am still trying to do so, but, keep realising that it is totally pointless. I expect to be here until 9pm. Even then it will still be totally pointless, but an added bonus will be my headache. If anyone is around Barnes can they bring me some dinner at 7ish? And some new hands for when the carpal tunnel syndrome kicks in?

Alix, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's still totally pointless. I can't focus on the screen wvery well, and my brain hurts. still got 3000 words to go.

Alix, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Go on Lixi, you'll do it.

Anna, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, get to it. Pointless things are easiest to understand.

Graham, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's probably not really pointless. I know about these things.

Possibly CAAAAMPbell will do a very good job. I believe that she has the ability.

the pinefox, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hey brits, what does cor/corr mean?? i be stoopid

Ron, Thursday, 16 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

wow!

(cf Danger Mouse "Journey To The Earth's Cor!")
