Will Dave Marsh be his secretary?

Springsteen needs to run for Senate for that to happen? I thought that this was already so!

There's a certain precedent; in 2000 Pat DiNizio (of the Smithereens) ran for a New Jersey Senate seat as the Reform Party's candidate.

Wasn't Sonny Bono elected to the House a few years back? Or did I dream it?

Then, you've got John Glenn, who whilst not a musician, was certainly someone with a already-existing public profile. And I'm sure that Bill Bradley (is that right?) used to be a basketball player. There was also a Supreme Court judge who died recently who used to be a US footballer. Not forgetting Jesse Ventura. Or Clint Eastwood.

Interesting that over here, the only people who had a profile (or at least did something before that people might have remembered them for) before they became elected officials that I can think of are:

Glenda Jackson Andrew Faulds (ex minor supporting actor) Seb Coe Gyles Brandreth

Suppose Matthew Syed would have been had he been elected. Ditto Terry Marsh.

two years pass...
So tomorrow, Springsteen and a large group of other artists are going to announce their tour in support of voter registration and getting rid of Bush. Neil Young, Pearl Jam, REM, the Dixie Chicks, Steve Earle, and many others are apparently going to be touring as part of the effort, but not exactly together - they're going to appear at different venues in the same general location.

Tonight, competing with 42 on Letterman, there's a Nightline segment (program?) on the tour, in which several of the artists will appear, including an interview with Bruce.

Argh. I read that as "are going to announce their tour in support of voter registration and getting rid of Bush, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, REM, the Dixie Chicks, Steve Earle, and many others"

It seemed rather exciting! FITE!

(sorry, carry on...)
