The corner is at least funny.

Nicolars (Nicole), Tuesday, 10 February 2009 14:19 (sixteen years ago)

Lock thread, all that can be said has been.

I think I've read Daily Kos exactly twice.

I actually see the matchups more this way:

RedState vs. Daily Kos
Corner vs. the Plank (or whatever the TNR one is called) -- way less ideological difference between those two but enough to make it amusing.

Nuking them all still a useful option.

I think I've read Daily Kos exactly twice.

Two times too many, then.

that makes sense. tbh i read tnr here and there but i had no idea about the plank. repulsive politics notwithstanding, i actually like the format of the corner a lot (much more than kos), and it seems the plank has that kind of approach going on.

i haven't read Kos in three years, and the only reason i read The Corner is because it's referenced here on ILX.

IOW, i think that Kos's real problem is that it has outlived its usefulness -- there's a Democrat in the White House, Democrats control both houses of Congress, the public (for now) appears to support more Democratic-friendly legislation. and i tire of reading of folks' endless iteration of their own opinions (even if i am in some measure of agreement with them).

so what's wrong with Kos? I haven't read it in a few years, but I used to visit it regularly. Seems like a regular left-leaning blog to me. Never read the diaries, maybe they're what's so bad???

the corner is certainly entertaining, though if I want my right wing nuttery, I generally go to free republic.

Dr. Johnson (askance johnson), Monday, 16 February 2009 00:16 (sixteen years ago)

argh so much knee jerk

daily kos raises tons and tons of money, support and volunteers for relatively ignored democratic candidates. organized democrats online before obama did. it may be super preachy, certainly is not the place to go for subtle and nuanced political commentary...and may serve as a bill o'reilly boogieman...but seriously...to pretend like this site has a net negative effect on society is completely retarded.

I don't read it daily, find a lot of people on it (esp kos) super annoying, but hell yeah I'm glad it exists and even more glad that the republicans don't have a site 1/10th as organized and successful.

Daily Kos may be useful, but this is the internet and the internet is all about bringing the lolz, and NRO brings the lolz hard.

Daily Kos taking the brave position that rape is a bad thing.

I don't see a scenario in which The Corner isn't superior.

The Screaming Lobster of Challops (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 16 February 2009 00:26 (sixteen years ago)

Not to mention that NRO has given us the Corner thread on ILX which is probably one of my top 10 ongoing ILX threads.

Mordy, Monday, 16 February 2009 00:33 (sixteen years ago)

political commentary about rape was so 90s. I'm glad nobody gets raped anymore.

iatee, Monday, 16 February 2009 00:40 (sixteen years ago)

seriously, please explain to me why that post is a bad thing

All's right with the world.

ten years pass...

Tried to unsubscribe from DailyKos mailing list (never wanted them in the first place) and it doesn't work. Maybe I'm getting even more from them.
