i watched this and regular house hunters and a good chunk of HGTV before I actually found myself selling a house and suddenly those shows weren't so hilarious anymore.

i just like watching these shows so i can laugh at the spoiled americans and their real estate "needs" (honey, this walk-in closet isn't big enough)

as someone that is on the cusp of having to deal with adult problems like deciding which city to live in and where to live in said city, i can't decide which version of 'house hunters' depresses me more -- original 'house hunters', where pretty much every couple buys a crappy suburban home that they can barely afford, or 'house hunters international', where rich couples stroll around tropical paradises trying to figure out which house has the best view of the ocean

south african trust fund girl in fiji episode was pretty jealous-making in a good way (she grew up in fiji i guess, cool girl, owns a dance studio, needs a bigger dance studio! pops got it covered)

The only one I've ever enjoyed was the nearly destitute couple from new orleans buying a crumbling cottage in the south of france on a sub $100K budget. They were a breath of fresh air after zillions of punchable fatasses from Orlando.

As far as the normal house hunters goes, why don't they ever set one in Oakland, that's what I want to know.

i enjoy them all.i mostly hope the people make the rong choice. Cursing them as they complain because the kitchen in Budapest doesn’t have an island and two dishwashers is the best.

Suzanne Whang is basically responsible for "The Secret" blowing up to the huge thing it did for a minute. Now that we don't see her around anymore, and people have generally called bullshit on "The Secret", I figure Oprah had her taken out.

I just discovered that friends in NYC are currently filming for House Hunters domestic

they are very determinedly pulling the curtain back on the whole "the couple has already picked a place and are faking the house dilemma for the cameras" thing by posting pics of the entire filming process on Facebook, it's kind of hilarious

yes; apparently that is SOP for how they film the show (I'd heard rumors and read a couple of "exposes" but I actually KNOW this couple and one dude is posting things like "interview at decoy house #2" on his Facebook wall, lol)

it probably does but both of these guys are notorious "I don't actually give a shit" personalities, plus all of their friends already know they've purchased a place

the director's gonna be like "guys can i respectfully ask you again to stop saying 'we already made a decision before filming, why are we doing this?' on camera please"

Before moving to NYC one of these dudes lived with one of my best friends in Boston and bought the apartment they were living in out from underneath my friend within weeks of a conversation where my friend was all "if our landlord ever sells this place, I really want to make an offer on it; I love living here", in the process booting my friend out and having his boyfriend (now husband) move in; they will basically do what they want whenever they want with little thought to what ripple effect their actions may have

i love it when they show these cities and they really awkwardly elide the actual name of the city (maybe just for united states broadcasts), and you think they're american and then you see these unfamiliar skylines and it's like a portal to a really clean looking alternate universe.

The giveaway is when the house has central vacuum.
