So, it's just like another issue of private eye. Funny, sure. "one of the pinnacles of British humour" though? Really? It's no freaking Diary of a Nobody.

cheese and other good things (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 12 February 2009 22:31 (seventeen years ago)

dude, this stuff, when it's firing, makes Private Eye look like the fuddy-duddy reactionary borefest it is

it's no Three Men In A Boat but then nothing is :D

the middle section of p.e. is not really the best shit in the magazine, but some of it is still gold.

you can't really go wrong with fake ads imo

The best stuff on Framley Examiner is banging, no doubt, but like a lot of newspaper spoofs the story very rarely reaches the genius of the headlines.

Peter Tinniswood did a fake parish magazine website while he was still alive that was very very funny in a Tinniswood whimsical way.

Quite often, a very small article makes an entire page worth it, for instance the "Drunk mars bar" article on this one: http://www.framleyexaminer.com/pages/news068.html

"Don't forget Flamers is the new name for the Framley fire service" ftw

K the Tinniswood thing is called Wymsey, tragically enough.

the only bit I remember from this (iirc from the cash-in book) was a missed connections ad for someone looking for Paul Weller, who they'd seen at a Paul Weller concert. it was funnier than I'm making it sound
