buy it for him and keep the change.

Josh L, Monday, 16 February 2009 17:50 (seventeen years ago)

I've bought teens some booze but never cigarettes, that shit is just plain unhealthy.

Tuomas, Monday, 16 February 2009 17:51 (seventeen years ago)

dynamite logic there t-man.

did an urchin ask you to buy him baccy?

my dad has a bazooka (cozwn), Monday, 16 February 2009 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

Well, they way I reckon it is, moderate amount of booze rarely hurts anyone (I wouldn't buy a teen more booze than he clearly can handle), but if you smart smoking in your teens, it's pretty hard to kick that habit later on.

Tuomas, Monday, 16 February 2009 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

and if so wht did you do?

my dad has a bazooka (cozwn), Monday, 16 February 2009 17:55 (seventeen years ago)

a teenager is only really going to ever ask for more booze than they can clearly handle

my dad has a bazooka (cozwn), Monday, 16 February 2009 17:56 (seventeen years ago)

(I wouldn't buy a teen more booze than he clearly can handle)

well played

cozwn, Monday, 16 February 2009 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

If you also get them a bag to carry the booze in, they can handle quite a lot...

snoball, Monday, 16 February 2009 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

If he wants baccy he can just suck dick for it like everyone else, surely?

TS: which does more damage to your health? 20 B&H or 2 litres of White Lightning (3l bottle RIP ;_;) ?

snoball, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

Well, what I meant by "clearly can handle" is "not enough to have made myself throw up as a teen". Though there's been only a couple of occasions I bought some random teens booze, so it's not like I was your regular alcohol-peddler or anything. I just felt solidarity for the kids, remembering the difficulties me and my friends used to have getting booze when we were teens.

Tuomas, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:02 (seventeen years ago)

And the logic behind "booze but not cigarettes" was, your probably gonna miss out something if you never get drunk as a teen, but nobody never misses out anything by not starting to smoke.

Tuomas, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:04 (seventeen years ago)

missing out on masturbating in front of a baby.

ian, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:08 (seventeen years ago)

I dunno about you, but I had great fun while being drunk as a teen. I'm sure many others had too.

Tuomas, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

i had great fun smoking cigarettes.

^^ one of enriques sincere posts (special guest stars mark bronson), Monday, 16 February 2009 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

i did buy booze for some girls once tho, unintentionally short-changing them in the process.

O Supermanchiros (blueski), Monday, 16 February 2009 18:11 (seventeen years ago)

but nobody never misses out anything by not starting to smoke

except looking cool as fuck and being thin, presumably. (I'm a non smoker)

Redknapp out (darraghmac), Monday, 16 February 2009 18:11 (seventeen years ago)

i would be more likely to have to ask an urchin to buy booze for me

lex pretend, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:12 (seventeen years ago)

I'd say buy it for him, be cool, cultivate those contacts, you never know who the urchin is going to grow up to be and you never know when you might need someone 'sorted out'.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ft Phil Collins (jim), Monday, 16 February 2009 18:19 (seventeen years ago)

honestly. tesco refused to let me buy BEER the other day.

the most wtf was a few months ago, when we went up to my friend's country cottage for her bday (32nd!), and while we were stocking up on supplies in the local waitrose i decided to get some champagne and some port - and they fucking IDed me, and normally you just lol and the checkout girl gets the manager and they wave you through. fucking jobsworths were totally hardline though, even took the champagne and stowed it beneath the till as if we were going to run off with it!

i didn't have ID but another of the party did, and said she'd get the booze, and then they refused to serve her either as she was GOING TO SUPPLY A MINOR o_0

seriously wtf. what kind of 17-yr-old would be buying veuve clicquot and fucking PORT in the first place. not to mention hanging out with 28-yr-olds.

lex pretend, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:19 (seventeen years ago)

i got id'd recently buying a bottle of scotch and a bottle of martini rosso while wearing a suit.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony ft Phil Collins (jim), Monday, 16 February 2009 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

I've never been id'd - I can't explain why as I've always looked younger than my real age. Actually I can explain why I don't get id'd now - because even though I still look younger than my age, my real age is now 35...

snoball, Monday, 16 February 2009 18:27 (seventeen years ago)

i got id'd in marks and spencers buying some bougie foodstuffs or other + red wine, about a year ago, aged 27. *shakes head*

people who work at shops pretty much get hung drawn and quartered if thet sel alcohol to underage peeps.

i don't blame them for refusing to serve.

Whenever you masturbate, if you listen closely, you can hear the screams of babies that never got to be born.

J0hn d, what do you suggest we do with posts like these? ignore them?

Mr. Que, Monday, 16 February 2009 20:23 (seventeen years ago)

ignore, forget, attempt to erase from brain

lex pretend, Monday, 16 February 2009 20:26 (seventeen years ago)

I would suggest giggling, cause given the baby/masturbating thread that's actually kind funny

Less funny = gaping hole in Tuomas's logic = if you but just "enough" booze for a teenager it's not like there are no other bald dudes in Helsinki they can get more from, jeez

nabisco, Monday, 16 February 2009 20:27 (seventeen years ago)

P.S. I think anyone who needs other people to help them acquire tobacco is someone who could probably stand not to be addicted to tobacco, you know?

nabisco, Monday, 16 February 2009 20:28 (seventeen years ago)

e.g. hospital-bound cancer patients

Lamp, Monday, 16 February 2009 20:29 (seventeen years ago)

Hahaha was thinking more of teenagers and the homeless

nabisco, Monday, 16 February 2009 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

aw, thanks mr. kyoo.

what is your day job anyway john? aren't you a sunday school teacher or something?

and of course, the point stands that when kids ask you for alcohol you have no idea what the consequences are going to be. they could be planning some fucked up date rape style shit just as easily as they could be planning to drink in the woodshed and watch R-rated movies.

ian, Monday, 16 February 2009 21:05 (seventeen years ago)

You know, I don't think it's particularly hard for underage people to get alcohol in this country, so I don't think it's exactly a burdensome hurdle for them to at least convince an older person they know that they're not going to do anything stupid, as opposed to just begging random strangers

nabisco, Monday, 16 February 2009 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

Now why can't the young people harangue me by asking questions about history outside the Circle K? That I would appreciate.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 21:48 (seventeen years ago)

If a kid asked me to buy them booze or smokes I'd immediately think it was a police sting and tell them to gtfo.
