Fear inspired by me realizing I am bad at setting up ground rules: 3/10, so good effort.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

Tuomas: 2/10.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

We are all going to die! (eventually)

StanM, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

Stan: 6/10.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

One school day, a boy named Tom was sitting in class and doing math. It was six more minutes until after school. As he was doing his homework, something caught his eye.
His desk was next to the window, and he turned and stared outside. It looked liked a picture. When it was home time at the school, he ran to the spot where he saw it. He ran fast so that no one else could grab it.
He picked it up and smiled. It had a picture of the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. She had a dress with tights on and red shoes, and her hand was formed into a peace sign.
She was so beautiful he wanted to meet her, so he ran all over the school and asked everyone if they knew her or have ever seen her before. But everyone he asked said "no." He was devastated.
When he was home, he asked his older sister if she knew the girl, but unfortunately she also said "no." It was very late, so Tom walked up the stairs, placed the picture on his bedside table and went to sleep.
In the middle of the night Tom was awakened by a tap on his window. It was like a nail tapping. He got scared. After the tapping he heard a giggle. He saw a shadow near his window, so he got out of his bed, walked toward his window, opened it up and followed the giggling. By the time he reached it, it was gone.
The next day again he asked his neighbors if they knew her. Everybody said, "Sorry, no." When his mother came home he even asked her if she knew her. She said "no." He went to his room, placed the picture on his desk and fell asleep.
Once again he was awakened by a tapping. He took the picture and followed the giggling. He walked across the road, when suddenly he got hit by a car. He was dead with the picture in his hand.
The driver got out of the car and tried to help him, but it was too late. Suddenly he saw the picture and picked it up. He smiled. He saw a cute girl holding up three fingers.

Library parking lots are the number 1 rape locations.

StanM, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:41 (seventeen years ago)

wow dude

and what, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:42 (seventeen years ago)

Stan: 5/10, I can't tell if lemur eater is for real or not.

Dom: 3/10, that story is cute.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

Stan, 0/10 on the rape tip. Most rapes occur in people's homes, tho a number do occur on the streets/parking lots, and the other major place is in cars. So if you don't leave your house, don't get into your car, and don't stay inside your house, you have low chances of getting raped.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

Why LIBRARY parking lots Stan? Bcz I am at a library? Surprisingly, this one lacks a parking lot!

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

Yep, I was trying to scare you. But I see (on the secret webcam we're all watching) that it didn't scare you at all. Nice clothes by the way. :-)

StanM, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:46 (seventeen years ago)

Wait a minute! If I suck at scaring girls, why am I still single? I always thought that was it, but now :-(((

StanM, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

you're scaring me

Mr. Que, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

Meeting you in person: 6/10???? I don't know!

Saying you have a webcam stalker thing: 1/10 as it makes no sense and since you complemented my schlubby oversized pilling sweater.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

Unfortunately most girls require other qualities too besides "not scary".

Tuomas, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

"good at masturbating"

Mr. Que, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

Tuomas: 2/10.

Mr. Que: 3/10.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

But we don't know what you're scared of!

(There's gluten in the air! Stop breathing or you'll have to sneeze!) (don't know about any allergies either)

StanM, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

Boo!

not_goodwin, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

Stan: 4/10 on the lols, 0/10 on the scary.

not goodwin: 10/10! FUCK!

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas. Despite its short atmospheric half life of 7 years, methane has a global warming potential of 62 over 20 years and 21 over 100 years (IPCC, 1996; Berner and Berner, 1996; vanLoon and Duffy, 2000). The sudden release of large amounts of natural gas from methane clathrate deposits has been hypothesized as a cause of past and possibly future climate changes. Events possibly linked in this way are the Permian-Triassic extinction event, the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum.

Climate scientists such as James Hansen expect that methane clathrates in the permafrost regions will be released as a result of global warming, unleashing powerful feedback forces which may cause runaway climate change that cannot be controlled.

Recent research carried out in 2008 in the Siberian Arctic has shown millions of tons of methane being released with concentrations in some regions reaching up to 100 times above normal.

Charlie Rose Nylund, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

Pleasant Plains: 9/10, good job.

Library computer keyboards contain all kinds of filth/bacteria/viruses

snoball, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

Sorry, that was meant for later when you catch me watching you sleep while wearing your underwear!

not_goodwin, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

Charlie: 5/10, I can only be afraid of global events I can't change for so long.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

snoball: 2/10, duh.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, believe you me. I have a LOT longer than 1 hour to scare you.

slacki (libcrypt), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

I thought that the present risk of infection would be scarier than that. I travelled on a bus today and I feel ill.

snoball, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

libcrypt not getting the rules: 6/10 as you're smart enough to figure out that I am temporally serious here

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

snoball: Everything is covered in everything.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:55 (seventeen years ago)

So basically you're saying that I was travelling on a bus covered in poop?

snoball, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:56 (seventeen years ago)

i actually loved stanm's video and thought it wasnt v scary at all

homosexual II, Monday, 16 February 2009 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

snoball: yeah

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

Actually the bus was probably covered in pee.

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 16 February 2009 19:57 (seventeen years ago)

I'm trying to scare you with the threats of scaring you later. This is kind of a meta-scare.

Sarcasm: 0/10

Batty: 4/10

i'm shy (Abbott), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:42 (seventeen years ago)

And actually he does not hump stuff, he masturbates with his own foot.

i'm shy (Abbott), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:43 (seventeen years ago)

Obv the real version of that pic is too scary to show. (xps)

When you die, your consciousness stays with your corpse. And so you spend the rest of eternity as a disembodied consciousness trapped inside a tiny coffin buried under the Earth.

Mordy, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:51 (seventeen years ago)

ooooh 9/10

i'm shy (Abbott), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:52 (seventeen years ago)

That's the one that keeps me up at night :/

Mordy, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:52 (seventeen years ago)

The alternate version of that for me is: When they drop the nuclear bomb, and your sleeping body's shadow is burnt into your shadow for eternity, you are just that living, remembering, burnt shadow.

Mordy, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:53 (seventeen years ago)

You're good at this! That first one has been a theme of some nightmares of mine before.

i'm shy (Abbott), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 02:54 (seventeen years ago)

Sorry, when it's burnt into your sheets for eternity*

Thread title =
You have one hour to scare me!

not_goodwin, Wednesday, 18 February 2009 03:07 (seventeen years ago)

It gets a 7/10 bcz it reminds me that I probably fucked up several major test questions regarding probability theory in my genetics class on Monday.

i'm shy (Abbott), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 03:08 (seventeen years ago)

OK Abbott, here's a scenario. An invisible matter-destroying layer, centred around Earth, descends very very slowly from the atmosphere, consuming everything it touches. People scramble towards the centre of the earth as much as they can but it is all in vain. Yourself, you eventually see that the layer has got to within three feet of you, with no escape, and you jump up into it.

Mequophidiophobia: fear of the beer snake (country matters), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 03:09 (seventeen years ago)

I want to make a film about that scenario.

Mequophidiophobia: fear of the beer snake (country matters), Wednesday, 18 February 2009 03:10 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not really scared by that? I'm not scared bcz it seems highly improbable at best.

No no you don't sit around a campfire at night and get scared at some rustling in the distance because you're afraid it's a hypothetical scenario in which your atmosphere is slowly contracting. Monsters, ghosts, you're still on!
